In a time where there is essentially an app for one’s every need, there are 11 in particular that aren’t going anywhere from my phone any time soon. Each of these apps either makes my life easier in some way, entertains me (or Hadley), motivates me, or saves me money. If you’re like me, you enjoy hearing what apps your friends and family are in to, so I hope you find a couple new ones today that are beneficial in some way. I’d love to hear if you do!
Note: This list does not include my social media apps. It’s obvious that I have and enjoy those like most of you already do. 😉
USAA
I pop into this app every day to glance at our finances, deposit checks, or send money to another USAA member. I also have our Southwest credit card information linked to this account, so I’m able to check out our balance and charges on that as well with just one app. Most banks now have similar apps.
Pic Stitch
If I want to make a collage of some kind to post to social media, Pic Stitch is my to-go! It’s free!
Cartwheel
Nothing goes in my cart at Target without being scanned with this app. Since I downloaded Cartwheel about a year ago, I’ve saved $64. I love sorting the offers based on the highest discounted items first so that I can easily see what’s a mega deal that I need to run out and grab. Even though many of their food items are only discounted 5%, that small percentage adds up on things that I would be buying anyway.
TripIt
I’m about to hit my five-year anniversary with TripIt, and I couldn’t love it any more! It makes our family’s travels so much more simple. In a nutshell, TripIt syncs with one’s email account and grabs all travel-related reservations and neatly organizes them in one place, with each day of the trip sorted. When I need to find airline reservation numbers, hotel booking information, rental car information, etc., it’s all right where I need it; No digging through emails trying to find old bookings. `
Sleep Pillow
Sleeping with white noise knocks me out cold, and fast! While traveling with my best friend last spring, we slept with her white noise app every night, and I was surprised by how well I slept. I downloaded this version for $1.99 as soon as I got home and have used it ever since.
Nike+ Running
This app makes running such a game for me. Its GPS distance calculator is freakishly accurate, and I love analyzing all of my stats from each run when I get back home. If you’re looking for an app that will help you get motivated to start running more, this may be what you’re looking for!
Waze
This app helps me keep tabs on road conditions regarding accidents, road work, etc. and gives me a heads up about what’s going on if we stumbled upon standstill traffic.
What to Expect
This app has been my go-to during both pregnancies. I love popping in every few days to read updates about what my baby is up to, how big she possibly could be, and to hear about what’s likely developing for her at the time.
Counting 123
This is the only app I have on my phone for Hadley, and she loves it. It’s my go-to if we’re out and about and I need her to sit quietly for a few minutes (most recently at an ultrasound where all she wanted to do was sit on the table with me). There’s a free version, but we paid an additional $1.99 to get the upgraded version after seeing how much Hadley enjoys it.
RetailMeNot
My MIL introduced me to this app a few months ago, and it saved me quite a bit of money during the holidays while in-store shopping. It automatically knows when I enter a new store and pulls up offers available. My recent savings from this app included a free $15 item from Bath and Body Works, a $10 rebate via Paypal from Sephora, 20% off at Old Navy, and more!
SheReadsTruth
One of my goals for 2016 is to read through the Bible in a year, and after hearing about this app from so many people, I finally downloaded it and having been using it to try to keep up with my goal. They have many plans for studying the bible, but right now I’m focusing on “The Bible in a Year” plan. I highly recommend this organized and visually appealing app if you’re interested a bible study aid.
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
