I was talking with Jamie the other day about how Hadley’s bath time and bedtime routine has totally changed since he left nearly four months ago. Bath time and bedtime used to be their time together every night to be silly and spend time together (I also really appreciated the break), so Hadley and I have had to slowly let our new routine evolve into one that we both enjoy and that ends our day on a positive note.
When the clock strikes seven, it’s time for a bath! Nine times out of 10 she stops whatever she’s doing and runs to the bathroom. She loves bath time.
“Mom, are you coming yet?!”
One of the changes we’ve made to our routine is what products I bathe Hadley with. We discovered the Milk & Co Milk Baby line back in November, and there’s no turning back. We’re in love.
While the water is running, I always pour a squeeze of Milk Baby’s Bath Time Wash to create the bubbles Hadley loves. A little bit goes a long way. I also use about a quarter-sized amount of this wash on a wash cloth to scrub her down a couple minutes into her bath.
I cannot get enough of Milk Baby’s Shampoozle + Conditioner. A dime-sized amount is all I need to get a great lather worked all over Hadley’s head. Because a little bit goes a long way, we’re still making our way through our first bottle (and like I said, we’ve been using it for a couple months). This is a product we’ll continue to order again and again.
Once she’s cleaned up, I usually let her play with her bath toys until she’s ready to get out or until her water is cold. 😉
Once she’s out and wrapped in a towel, we go rock for about 10 minutes in the glider that we’ve moved to the new baby’s room. This is something new in the last month that I’ve fallen in love with; It’s without a doubt the sweetest few minutes of the day. She loves to be cuddled in her towel and talked/sung to. It feels like holding my teeny baby again.
Once we’ve rocked for a bit we head to her bedroom for lotion application. We’ve tried a few different brands since she was born, but not surprisingly Milk Baby’s Moisturing Qweam is my favorite. It comes out thick and melts right into her skin without leaving my hands feeling the slightest bit oily.
Once lotion is applied and her pajamas are on, she knows to head to her bathroom so that I can comb out her towel-dried hair and brush her teeth.
Psst! Hadley had her first dental appointment yesterday! She got a great report but wasn’t a fan of the process itself (I don’t blame you, girlfriend). I’ll tell you more about it later, if you’re interested.
By 7:30 it’s time to gather her bedtime essentials (i.e. “Puh-ple” the blanket, “Piggy” the potholder, and “cookie book” If You Give a Mouse a Cookie).
For the next hour (or two…) she’ll sit up or lay down in her bed with her lamp on and look through the five or six books that are in bed with her. She loves to read and hasn’t tried to get out of bed yet (knock on wood). We’ve had our fair share of struggles with eating and with sleeping through the night, but bedtime… bedtime is easy. I usually lay down next to her for about 20 minutes to read a couple books of her choice before shutting the door and finally having my own time.
Before I turn off her light for the night, I take her to use the bathroom one more time and then it’s lights out. We’ll be back to doing it all over again the next night. 🙂
We’ve been using a few other Milk & Co products for a few months now that we’re smitten with and have to share with you; I know your family would also love them.
Every morning I spray Milk Baby’s Fairy Detangler all over Hadley’s head. I usually do about five sprays, and I’m still on the first bottle! It leaves her hair perfectly smooth to comb through and work with while getting her presentable before we leave the house.
Milk & Co also has skincare lines for men and women, though the women’s skincare line isn’t available for sale in the US yet (keep an eye out). I sent these products from Milk by Michael Klim men’s line to Jamie over in the Middle East, and he promptly sent me a few ridiculous text messages about how much he loved them. I’d screenshot and share, but I’d rather not embarrass my silly husband. 🙂
I think it’s so neat that Milk & Co was founded by a mom who simply wanted something gentle and natural for her children’s skin. The founder, Lindy Klim, is actually the wife of Australian Olympic swimmer, Michael Klim. This family designed and researched the products themselves, and all of the ingredients are from Australia and are 95% natural (I love this). The line uses ingredients such as the healing properties of rose hip and the calming properties of lavender and chamomile.
Here is a link to Lindy’s profile on the website that better explains why Klim designed the line and how her Balinese and Tasmanian roots played a part in creating Milk Baby.
I can’t recommend the Milk Baby products enough to parents of babies, toddlers, and young children or the Milk & Co men’s line as a sweet way to spoil or surprise your husband. If you pop into my house sometime soon you’ll be sure to find many of these products in our bathrooms. I’m also excited to scoop up a few for my sister to use with my niece when she’s born in May.

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
