Saturday was all about my sister Jennifer as we celebrated her with a baby shower! She’s due with my niece Carly Grace at the end of May, and we are all ecstatic for her to get here! I already had a dream a couple weeks ago about what she’s going to look like, which must mean that my thoughts are all about babies these days. 🙂

Jennifer’s college roommate and best friend Emily and her mom offered to throw the shower with me, and we held it at her mom’s house in Birmingham.

While I helped out getting things ready for the shower, my aunt (who traveled in from Pennsylvania!) kept Hadley company. Had was also pretty happy to snag first dibs from the food table. 😉
Emily’s mom enjoys baking cakes for all kinds of occasions, so she worked hard on this one for Jenn’s shower. It was delicious!
The chicken salad bar was a hit! Emily’s mom knows that everyone likes different mix-ins in their chicken salad, so she mixed up the chicken separately and left the toppings for the guests to include themselves. Almost everyone went back for second helpings!
The chicken salad was some of the best I have ever had. She used rotisserie chicken, a little mayo, and a packet of Hidden Valley ranch seasoning. So good!
We held the shower at noon, and Hadley was able to hang with us until about 12:30 when she couldn’t keep her eyes open any more. She quickly fell asleep in a back bedroom and woke up about around 2 p.m. just in time for cake and to give goodbye hugs to the guests. 🙂
After we ate, we played a quick game where everyone had to guess what baby items were in each bag. I played this game once before at my friend Jessica’s baby shower, and I thought it was a cute way to lighten things up and also send the mama-to-be home with some smaller baby items. Each bag contained a baby item that started with the letter on the bag. Included in the bags were a bottle, an aspirator, butt paste, a yellow duck, socks, a hair brush, a onesie, wipes, an elmo thing (the letter “e” is hard! I gave a hint.), and a rattle.
She got some very generous and thoughtful gifts and is just about ready to bring her baby home. 🙂
In this picture Jennifer is just shy of 30 weeks and I’m just over 35 weeks. Our girls will be here before we know it!
Carly Grace, you are so loved. You have no idea how many people are awaiting your arrival! Keep on cookin’ and we’ll see you in a few months. 🙂
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
