Hello hello! I am so excited that it’s March because I can officially say that NEXT MONTH I’m having a baby! I’ll be 33 weeks tomorrow, and though the days often feel like they’re crawling, the weeks are flying by.
Though the last couple of quiet months were just what the doctor ordered, now I feel rested, ready, and excited about all of the fun this month holds. We’ll get to see so many of our favorite people and I’m absolutely stoked about it! Can’t wait to share it all with you as we go. 🙂
Now for a quick slice of our lives from the last 10 days or so.
On Tuesday night a handful of my girlfriends that I met through the FRG threw me a surprise “baby sprinkle” to welcome Sadie!
All of these women are married to soldiers who work in Jamie’s brigade and are deployed overseas with him, and I couldn’t be more thankful to walk through this season of life with them while our husbands are gone. I don’t know how I’d survive deployments without having friends who are experiencing the exact same things that I am. Their friendships make all of the “crazy” seem much more normal and manageable.
I thought we were just meeting up for dinner, but when I walked inside the restaurant I spotted balloons, a table full of gifts, and a delicious cake. So sweet. It meant so much!
As Hadley’s imagination and interest in pretend play has grown, so has her ability to play individually in ways that she really enjoys. It’s fun to watch some of the crazy things she comes up with! She’s such a hot mess in the picture below – headband around her neck, dozens of coins that she’s constantly transferring back and forth from the block to her piggy bank, as well as some kind of meticulous task with . Why my favorite to wear is also her favorite to play with is beyond me…
She’s also become obsessed (seemingly overnight) with the baby dolls that she got for Christmas. Before this week, she played with them exactly two times in two months, but now she carries them all over the house, takes them for rides in the car, and brings them along in the stroller on our walks. I hope she’s as tender with her baby sister as she is right now with her dolls. 🙂 It’s very sweet to watch how motherly she is!
After a lengthy morning at the post office, I decided to swing by the Call Hall Dairy Bar on K State’s campus to grab an ice cream cone with Hadley as a reward for her good behavior. It was a gorgeous day, so we got our cones and sat on the grass to eat. Ice cream is my #1 weakness, and I think I’ve turned my daughter into a little bit of an ice cream lover as well. If you’re local and you haven’t tried out this creamery, book it there quick!
Hadley’s school does at least one art project every day that she goes, and though I absolutely love seeing all of her creations, the stack of artwork on my kitchen counter was getting pretty high. I decided to get a file box that could hang legal-sized folders and to make a folder for every school year that I’ll store work in that I want to keep. I’m planning to go through each folder at the end of the year to decide what I want to continue holding on to and what we can let go.
Because I didn’t feel like running out the store to look for a bin, I just ordered off of Amazon and grabbed a spare file folder from our home office. Too easy! I get a high when things are better organized. 😉
is single-handedly the best beauty product I’ve purchased in a long time! Because I’m inevitably always in a rush to get ready and out the door these days, skipping lotion application after getting out of the shower was happening all the time. I noticed my skin was getting dry rapidly at the beginning of January, so I picked up this bottle to try and have been obsessed ever since! It took about a week to start to feel a difference in my skin, but two months later my skin feels softer than it has in a long time. It takes two seconds to apply, and then I hop out of the shower and continue rushing to get ready. 😉 Love love love this stuff. I believe there are three different kinds, but I’ve only used (and will continue to use) .
And that’s our slice of life. Hope you have a fabulous Thursday!
Let’s chat!
- Have you tried this Jergens lotion? Are you as obsessed as I am with the results and how easy it is?!
- What are some things you recommend I squeeze in to do with Hadley during these last few weeks of pregnancy?
- Do you have a method for organizing your kids’ schoolwork? I would love to hear other ideas!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
