Good morning and Happy Monday! We are home sweet home in Kansas and are so happy to be back! I’m so glad I made the decision to spend a couple of months at my parent’s home in Alabama, but being back in our own beds feels so, so good.
Rewinding a few days today to share a slice of life from our last 10 days or so before we packed up and made the trip back to Kansas.
If Sadie could spend her whole day in one spot, this would be it. She loves to lay propped up on the Boppy pillow and nurse herself to sleep. I know this might be forming poor habits that’ll be hard to break later, but these have been some of my favorite moments since meeting Sadie.
The girls loved spending so much time with their Grandma. We can’t wait to see her again hopefully soon!
We loved spending our Friday afternoon with beautiful Kerry! She made Hadley’s LIFE when she brought her a new Rapunzel doll. 😉 Thank you Kerr! We love you!
Last Saturday three of my best friends from college drove up from Birmingham, Atlanta, and Tuscaloosa to spend the day with Hadley, Sadie, and me. As they were walking up to the front door, I asked Hadley who they were, and she shouted “Mommy’s friends!”.
The day could not have been more gorgeous, so I packed up a big picnic lunch and we headed to downtown Madison to eat and hang outside. These girls are all so good with Hadley, so she was in Heaven having their attention!
Sadie already loves being outside, so she enjoyed tagging along and hanging on the blanket. For the most part, she’s a really happy, content baby!
Sadie took a nice, long snooze with Mary E. So sweet!
Check out that chip disaster! Hadley decided the bag was all hers and dumped it. 😉
Mary E’s 29th birthday was the following Monday, so we surprised her with a cake and celebrated a few days early.
Later that day, this flower delivery showed up from Jamie! He totally surprised me and made me feel very loved for Mother’s Day.
It was so nice to actually spend Mother’s Day with my mom. This picture was from our brunch down at The Public House in Huntsville.
I was looking at a picture from my TimeHop a few days ago from Mother’s Day last year, and the girl in that picture (me) would have NEVER guessed that this year I’d have two girls in my arms. Very grateful for these two little loves.
I am in love with this gown from Bethy! She made a similar one for Hadley that she wore home from the hospital.
Jamie is missing his girls so much! I can’t even imagine being away from them like he is. We are down to just a few more weeks apart. Counting down the days!
My friend Amira came over to visit us on a day that I was definitely riding the “hot mess express” appearance-wise and emotionally, and she made me feel so much better. From sleep issues to breastfeeding to general “mom” stuff, she was such a voice of empathy and offered such good advice. She’s a gem!
We both so wish our girls could spend more time together. They get along so well and have so much fun together!
It was a little weird setting Sadie up with a pediatrician just for a few weeks there in Alabama, but it was totally necessary in came we needed one. She had one official visit with the doctor there in town, and she had a very healthy check-up! At the three-week mark she had grown a half inch and gained almost a half pound from her birth weight. My little peanut is so tiny. She weighed just seven pounds even at this check-up! Love this teeny little munchkin.
We’re having some sleep issues, and by sleep issues, I mean that we’re not getting much of it. Sadie still has her days and nights quite mixed up, so we spend most of the night awake hanging out and trying to get this little girl to sleep. This was Sadie “playing” on her play mat at 3 a.m. about a week ago. Oh, the newborn days…
I snapped this picture last Wednesday after we got home from Hadley’s last day of preschool. Even though she was only in school in Alabama for 6-7 weeks, she learned so much. I could go on and on about how impressed I was with Asbury UMC’s preschool program. I’m so thankful she was able to attend, even if it was for a short time. I can’t believe she doesn’t start school up again for four months. Both Hadley and I will miss her school time this summer.
I am so thankful for the way both my parents and Jamie’s parents love our girls. I hope they realize one day how fortunate they are to have grandparents who are so hands on and involved. This candid shot is everything to me!
I’ll be back tomorrow with another “Slice of Life” from the last few days back in Kansas. See you then! xoxo
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
