Today’s post will be short and sweet and published simply for the sake of accountability! If I share my latest fitness goal with you guys, I obviously can’t wimp out, right?! 😉
I really enjoy having a goal when it comes to exercise, so I’ve been racking my brain the last couple of weeks trying to think of a fitness goal that is reasonable while balancing two kids as well as an overall goal that will allow me to create mini goals within it. During my run last week my overall goal just clicked, and I’m darn pretty tickled about it!
Goal: On the 18th of every month I will strive to do a run that’s as many miles as Sadie is months old, culminating in the Bill Snyder Highway half marathon next May. Sadie was born on April 18th, so a few days ago (June 18th) I ran two miles on her two month birthday. On July 18th I’ll head out to do a three mile run. Hopefully I’ll be up to three miles before that, but just in case I’m not, I have to hit it by that date. On August 18th, I’ll do four miles, etc.
There’s only this one half marathon in Manhattan every year, and it’s a semi-big one! Sadie will be 13 months old next May, and since a half marathon distance is 13.1 miles, I figured that this will be a perfect goal! Next May will probably be our last May here in Kansas, so I’m already looking forward to participating in this popular city event before our next move.
I haven’t ran a half marathon since November 2012, so I have my work cut out for me! I figure I’ll start following an actual half-marathon training plan sometime around February in addition to this goal.
If any of my local friends want to join in the fun, let me know! I always enjoy having a running buddy.
Let’s chat!
How do you motivate yourself to stay on track (or get back on track) with exercise?
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
