Happy Friday, friends! It’s been a scorcher of a week here in northeast Kansas, but otherwise things are nice and quiet around here. We have a few things planned for the weekend, but mostly we’ll be focused on loving on Jamie for Father’s Day and laying low.
Here’s a little slice of our lives from the last 10 days or so.
A few days ago my friend Meg sent me the picture on the left to show me what she was up to, and I quickly sent her the picture on the right. 😉 We were literally doing the exact same thing at the same time – letting our babies take an afternoon nap on their Boppy pillows after nursing while our two year olds napped in their rooms. I really adore my girlfriends, many of whom are right in the thick of motherhood with me. 🙂
Last week we took a family trip to Target (bye bye money!), and we couldn’t help but scoop up this $10 slip & slide. If you follow me on Snapchat (@WhimsicalSept) you probably saw that Hadley hated it, but Jamie and I had a field day. We played on it for over an hour acting like five year olds, and it was fabulous. 🙂
We love frequenting Aggieville (KSU’s strip of restaurants, bars, etc.) during the summer when it’s not nearly as crowded, and Taco Lucha tops our list of favorite places. I think I’ve been there three times in the last two weeks. 🙂 My whole world is in the picture below. 🙂 I love love love my people!
Have you ever heard of Chatbooks? I never had until a few weeks ago when they contacted me and asked if I’d like them to pull my Instagram pictures and put them into photobooks. Um, yes please! I was so excited to rip open the package and thumb through these books with Jamie. They’ve definitely roped me in as a customer! The books each hold 60 pictures (30 front and back pages) and include the dates and captions from Instagram. They’re also only $8 a piece! Such a brilliant idea!
I love love love having visitors here in Kansas, and this girl was our most recent one! Noel is one of my closest friends that I met at Fort Campbell (TN) and was actually my very first Army friend! She stopped in for a night during a road trip from CO to OH, and we had so much fun. Jamie graciously agreed to parent solo for a few hours so that Noel and I could enjoy a little girls night out. Such a blast. Love this girl!
This is how Hadley has been eating lunch almost every day this week – outside taking bites between playtime in her baby pool and water table. This section of our deck is mostly shaded by the house, so we play out in this area of our yard a lot! Notice that Teddy is never far from food.
Look at these precious little Hawaiian dresses my dear friend Hannah sent my girls! Jamie about died when he walked in the house and saw them. Hannah is stationed in Hawaii with her husband, and getting this surprise package in the mail from her totally made my day. Love you, Han!
The Landers joined us for DeSpain happy hour and a spontaneous cookout on Monday since the guys had Monday and Tuesday off for the Army’s birthday. 🙂 We did a little baby switch and snapped a pic real quick!
We’re back on board with Blue Apron for the foreseeable future and are loving it. More on Blue Apron in a future post!
Hadley and Jamie have been little fish this week! I cannot explain via this blog how much my child loves the pool. Seeing the smile plastered across her face while she swims makes me the happiest mom, but her meltdowns when it’s time to go make me want to hide. They’re pretty dramatic, and the whole pool knows when the DeSpains are leaving! Ha!
More lunch on the porch! This is summer. 🙂
Have a beautiful weekend! xoxo
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
