Jamie and I can’t put a finger on when we started calling Hadley by “Hadley Boo” or who was the first to call her that, but to say that it’s stuck would be an understatement. She has a few other nicknames too (“Diva Diva” is another accidental popular one), but Hadley Boo might as well be on the birth certificate.
When I was nearing the end of my pregnancy with Sadie, Jamie started getting a little antsy about what her nickname would be. He tried out a few before she was born that were all “Sadie + _____” (trying to stick with the formula of Hadley’s nickname), but none of them sounded right. Because we never meant for Hadley to have a nickname that would stick so well, I assured Jamie that if Sadie were meant to have a nickname, that it would develop naturally, just like Hadley’s.
Sadie turned three months old last week, and it’s safe to say that she’s officially our “Peanut”. I think we started calling her this shortly after she was born simply because she was such a teeny newborn, but we never intended for it to stick the way it has. We each unintentionally call her Peanut several times every day (even though she’s far from a tiny peanut these days), and it makes us so happy that she has her own little family nickname just like Hadley, both that evolved so naturally.
I’ll be curious to see how long these nicknames stick around or if they’ll fade as the girls get older. For now Jamie and I think they’re really sweet and enjoy lovingly referring to the girls by them when addressing them or having conversations about them.
Do you have a nickname that just your family refers to you by? Do your children? I’d love to hear!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
