Happy Monday, friends! I hope your week is off to a nice start. We’re attending an award ceremony on post this morning and then later tonight some girlfriends and I are going to slip out after our babies are asleep for some girl time over drinks. Excited! I haven’t seen many of them the last few weeks because everybody has been enjoying family time after welcoming their husbands home, but we’re ready to reunite and catch up!
On Saturday Jamie held down the fort at home with the girls while I ran over to World Market to host an afternoon in-store event. I’m a part of their bloggers ambassador program, and a couple of weeks ago they invited us to host an event at our closest store. After briefly mentioning it to Jamie, he quickly encouraged me to participate and assured me that he’d be fine at home for the day with the girls as long as I pumped enough bottles to keep Sadie a happy girl. I love that man of mine and the way he supports me.
I arrived to the Lawrence store around 1:30 and quickly met up with the employees who were there to get me all set up!
The event revolved around demoing three different twists on the traditional s’more using some really delicious treats from the World Market shelves.
From 2-4 p.m. I handed out samples of the three types of treats, explained what each was, and showed costumers the nearby display where the ingredients could be scooped up to purchase. I also explained that I am a family and lifestyle blogger and handed out many of my business cards, encouraging costumers to pop onto my site and snoop around! I had great conversations with so many people and truly enjoyed the afternoon.
One of the highlights of the day was meeting my friend Stephanie for the first time! She writes the blog One Mile Home Style, and we’ve been reading each other’s blogs for over a year. I recognized her as soon as she came up to the store to meet me, and we had a great time talking for a bit.
Being in the store was a little torturous because I basically wanted to buy ALL THE THINGS. World Market has some of my absolute favorite home decor, and having to stare at this throw pillow selection for two hours required a large amount of self-control.
Before I left the store, the sweetest employees that I worked along beside sent me home with all of the leftover goodies from the demo. As soon as I got home I got everything out and made a few treats with Jamie and Hadley to show them what I’d been up to all day. Neither of them minded taste-testing. 🙂
A few recommendations: That Dulce de Leche is to die for! I’m not a big caramel fan, but that stuff is so delicious! I was also impressed with their marshmallow fluff. Again, I’m not typically a huge marshmallow fan, but their version is so easy to spread and is light and tasty! My two favorite treats of the day were the chocolate Laceys cookies and the bacon-flavored chocolate. OH my goodness!
All in all, the experience was very enjoyable and I hope to do more similar events soon!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
