Another week, another slice of our lives. 🙂 Here’s what we’ve been up to lately as we hold our breaths and gear up for a caraaazyyy September!
Maybe these pictures of our peanut sleeping in our bed is getting a little repetitive, but oh this sight makes my heart sing. She spontaneously snoozes in our bed during the day about once a week, and I think it’s so precious how comfy she gets. We have a on our bed that we were gifted for Christmas, and Sadie agrees that it’s basically the best. thing. ever.
Her hair isn’t growing too much, but BOY are those cheeks! We got out Hadley’s old high chair from our basement a few weeks ago, and it’s so nice to have another place to put Sadie if our hands are full doing something. We’re still just as obsessed with as we were when Hadley used it. We can slide it all around the kitchen on its wheels, and it’s perfect for a tiny four month old as well as a big 18 month old.
I love this picture of Sadie mean muggin’ Hadley. Hadley is so protective over her, and seeing them become more interactive with each other is really special.
What is it about Mickey Mouse Clubhouse that draws in babies and kids alike? There’s just something about that show in particular that captivates little ones! I was cracking up at how Sadie was straining to watch with Hadley instead of nurse.
These Slice of Life posts are Jamie’s favorite to read, so I have to sneak in a little shout out to him. He has been so gosh darn patient with me as I’ve adjusted to staying home with two kids this summer, and sometimes I take out my exhaustion on him simply because he’s there. After our previously-mentioned absolutely disastrous wills appointment, I fussed at him the entire way out to my car (he was helping me get the girls loaded up before he went back to work). He didn’t do one single thing wrong, but for some reason I needed to take my irritation out on him. I texted him something sarcastic later, but he knows me well enough to know that this was my way of apologizing. He never gets mad at me when I’m irrationally hard to handle, and he loves me through my moments when the kids have made me momentarily crazy. He’s a really, really good man, husband, and daddy, and I am super lucky to raise my babies with him as my supportive partner. I love you babe!
Now that I’ve just admitted I’m a little crazy… on with the show! 😉 I had a World Market gift card burning a hole in my wallet, so I used it to splurge on some new, colorful couch pillows!

I stalked my fave home decorator from Making Home Base (who’s also a military wife and the sweetest online friend) and used her Instagram photo below as my inspiration. I also created my wall decor last year after following instructions from one of her blog posts. Basically, I just want TO BE Chelsea. 🙂
One of my amazing friends here in Manhattan gifted us her used double Bob stroller, and we are pretty grateful! We’ve been able to go on family jogs before dinner several times throughout the last week, and that time together to talk completely uninterrupted by the girls’ demands or by cell phones has become really addictive. Let me rephrase that: Jamie is the one who talks because my pace is so slow, and I’m able to squeak out a comment or two in response every now and then because I’m usually huffing and puffing. 😉
Peanut found her piggies! This blog is basically her baby book, so I have to include these silly milestones. 🙂
Last Saturday was Hadley’s open house at her new dance studio, and I was squealing inside as we got her fitted for her first pair of ballet shoes. We also let her pick out a new outfit and some coordinating tights. We figured the splurge for her outfit won’t go to waste because Sadie will be able to use it too in a couple of years.
We tried on her complete outfit as soon as we got home, and Jamie and I couldn’t stop smiling.
Over the weekend our babysitter came to watch the girls around their bedtime so that we could meet up with some of Jamie’s work friends and two of my besties at a rooftop restaurant and bar downtown. We were only out a couple hours, but the gorgeous weather mixed with good company and tasty drinks equaled a really nice outing.
By the way – Thank you so much for your kind comments about our exterior home transformation! I really appreciate your positive feedback!
I want to end this post today by celebrating a few of my favorite blogging friends who have some exciting things going on. My girl Kait is so good at celebrating other bloggers, and that positivity is contagious!
Jen is having her baby girl most likely today! She has struggled with infertility for seven years, so this baby is such a miracle and already so loved be her family and everyone that loves Jen.
Kait & her hubby are house hunting in HAWAII! They just finished up with her husband’s commitment to the Army, and they’ve decided to stay in Hawaii (where they’ve been stationed the last few years) and plant roots. I am so looking forward to following their journey as civilians.
Chelsea from Anchors Aweigh just announced she’s pregnant with a little boy! She’s shared openly for a couple years about losing their daughter during her second trimester of pregnancy, so following along as she navigates her second pregnancy with so much joy is so awesome to read about and watch.
Ashley from Far Beyond Love just recently announced that they’ve begun the adoption process! Her recent post about what not to say to someone who’s adopting was so eye-opening and well written.
My college friend Sarah started blogging around a year ago, and she’s doing so amazing growing her site so organically! I love popping in to her site and was really excited for her recently when she was contacted by her favorite blogger (Shay from Mix and Match Mama) to work together to promote Shay’s new cookbook. Getting those exciting collaboration emails is such a fun feeling, and I’m excited for Sarah that her blog is going well. 🙂
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
