Popping in today with another slice of life. 🙂
I feel like a broken record, but things around here have continued to be quiet in a good way. I’m starting to get a little antsy and excited for fall, but I know that right behind fall is a brutally cold Kansas winter, so I’m not wishing away these summer temps just yet.
By the way, there’s a cute giveaway opportunity and shopping discount code at the bottom of this post, so keep a look out. 🙂
Here’s a few shots of what our DeSpain clan has been up to the last 10 days or so.
Our perfect summer Friday night is made up of good weather, friends, and food. Bonus points if there are two cute kiddos entertaining themselves cruising around the backyard on a new toy. 🙂
You may have noticed that Sadie has a Strawberry Hemangioma near her upper left shoulder, and Hadley is completely fascinated by it. The other day I found Sadie with a princess sticker on her, and Hadley was pointing and shouting that she put a Band-Aid on Sadie’s “boo boo”. Jamie and I got a good chuckle. 🙂
I’m finally feeling motivated to make our home’s exterior match the improvements we’ve made on the inside, so we decided to tackle painting all of the burgundy trim and three exterior doors. It’s been a ton of work so far, but slowly but surely we’re getting it done. I knew the fresh paint would update the home, but I didn’t realize quite how much. We’re really pleased so far, but we are also ready for it to be DONE. Finding time to paint these days is hard to do. Whew. Here’s a picture of the front porch before (it actually used to have a storm door too, but we took that off the first week we moved in.)
And here’s how it looks currently. I can’t wait to show you the whole house!
Our precious little bald baby (Jamie and I just don’t make babies with hair. Bless ’em.) is rolling over! By August 8th she was officially rolling from back to belly and belly to back. I snapped this picture after I went into her room and found her on her back in her crib after her nap (she’s a belly sleeper.) She was super proud of herself and was amused by my excitement!
I’ve told a few of you that several of Sadie’s new headbands come from a subscription service called Little Poppy Co. With shipping and tax, I end up paying around $14/month for three precious headbands. I used to pay between $6-$9 a piece at Claire’s, and these are so much cuter and much more breathable on Sadie’s head. I get so excited when a new package shows up each month because the prints and styles are always a surprise. Want to sign up to try it out for a month or two? They have both headbands and bows. Somethings for all little girls! Here’s my affiliate link, if you’re interested if signing up. 🙂
Because I am old and lame, I get a total high organizing things like my spice cabinet. I was annoyed the other day while cooking dinner because I couldn’t find the spices I was looking for, so right in the middle of cooking I took everything out, combined what I had duplicates of, cleaned the shelves, and reorganized. Ahhh. Much better. 🙂
We all (including Sadie obviously) love the Olympics. Love love love. Like the entire rest of the country, we had swimming and women’s gymnastics on every time it was on. Hadley has now added “Watch ‘nastics?!” to her list of “How can I stall going to bed?” tactics, and it’s cracking us up. This week Jamie is super into track, but I know I won’t be nearly as glued as I was last week.
If you follow along on Instagram you surely saw my big closet clean-out sale that I had going on this past weekend (I apologize for flooding your feed!). This big undertaking consumed a large part of my weekend, but it was successful for the most part and I’m looking forward to sharing a little bit about it later this week, if you’re interested. 🙂
Finally, I’m excited to end this post with some sweet pics of my girls in their new favorite tees!
My friends from Tiny Vines sent the girls and me these precious shirts, and I was thrilled because I’d been eyeing these shirts for months! I couldn’t resist throwing them on the girls for church on Sunday, and they made quite the precious pair. 🙂
You’re my person, Hadley Boo.
Sadie Rose, this shirt speaks volumes about all 16 pounds of you.
If you think these shirts are as fun and unique as I do, you should definitely pop over to their site to look at what else they offer. Their shop is full of the cutest clothing for the whole family, and they’ve graciously decided to offer you all a 15% discount code to use today through the end of the week (Friday at 11:59 p.m. CST.) Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
