Hello hello! Happy Thursday! I hope this finds you well and that you’ve had a good week. We’ve been on the move this week juggling a handful of different tasks, and the days just seem to be flying by. My mom and dad made the 12-hour drive from Alabama yesterday to visit us for a long weekend, and as always, we’re so happy to have them here.
Most of our activities lately haven’t warranted any pictures, but here’s a few I was able to snatch from my phone for this Slice of Life. 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend!
Last week we were “farewelled” from the battalion Jamie’s worked in for the last 15ish months in preparation to switch battalions so that he can take company command (a.k.a be in charge of/lead roughly 105 soldiers). I made a handful of friends during Jamie’s time in this job and I’ll miss seeing them on a regular basis. We were so thankful for the thoughtful gifts given to Sadie since she was born during the deployment. Very sweet!
Last Saturday we relished in a beautiful weekend day with zero plans. We packed a small early lunch, drove down the road to a local park, and enjoyed a relaxing picnic and playground time. Hadley is at an age where any activity seems to be thrilling to her, so when we told her we were going on a picnic she literally ran to her room to grab her shoes and was begging to get out the door. These simple, no-stress activities are what I enjoy filling our days with the most during this season of life.
Our peanut hit the five month mark on Sunday! She is sleeping 8 p.m. – 7 a.m. ish but still waking up once or twice a night. I’m not seeing an end in sight to her nighttime feedings, but oddly I still don’t mind them too much. Don’t get me wrong though – the couple of times that she’s slept straight through the night left me feeling like a brand new person and I really look forward to more of them in the future. 😉
She weighs around 17.5 pounds and is working on cutting her second tooth. She has her fussy moments of course, but generally she’s such a dream to parent. We’re nuts over her!
Even though our high temperatures are still in the 90s, I went ahead and busted out my small bin of fall decor. I love picking up a couple inexpensive items each season and slowly building our seasonal stashes. 🙂
Hadley is all about her dance class, and I can’t. get. enough of her in that leotard. She’s only two classes in, but she really seems to love it.
On Tuesday we invited over the outgoing commander and his family for dinner so that we could pick their brains about all things related to the FRG (Family Readiness Group). Typically in the Army the commander’s spouse leads the FRG, so I’m diving in!
I’m feeling a bit like a deer in headlights when it comes to this new role, but even the brigade commander’s wife told me to “fake it until I make it”, so that’s exactly what I plan on doing. 😉 My little assistant is always nearby and ready to help when it comes to baking for our company. 🙂
See you next week, friends! xoxo
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
