Let’s just jump right into another Slice of Life, shall we?
First things first. Not pictured in today’s post is me standing on top of a mountain jumping up and down screaming and shouting that Sadie Rose DeSpain is officially sleeping 10-12 hours consistently through the night. #HallelujahThankYouJesusAmen
It’s been a long (and I mean loooooong) 10 months of dreading nighttime, but with the help of a sleep support specialist, Sadie and I are finally getting the shut-eye we need. Working with someone regarding sleep support was something I was skeptical of but SO GLAD I did. I know there are so many mamas out there struggling in the sleep department, so I’ll whip up a post soon about how I went from getting up with Sadie five times a night to either one time or zero in just three weeks. OMG I can’t believe I just typed that. I literally never thought I’d see the day.
Anyway. 🙂
Hadley calls braids Rapunzel hair, and she’s been requesting braids constantly lately. This girly girl has my heart! I love that her hair is finally getting long enough to do all kinds of fun things with. My long-time readers are possibly laughing because they surely remember that Hadley was just the baldest baby/toddler forever and ever. 🙂 The sad thing is… Sadie has less hair now than Hadley did at her age. Jamie and I joke often about how we just don’t make babies with hair!
Hadley’s first purposeful word was “no”, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Sadie’s too. She hears it constantly. 😉 This is the face she makes when I tell her to stop doing something and she’s annoyed with me. In this picture, it was her putting the fake food from the children’s museum into her mouth. Also, I promise I had shoes on her at one point. She just gets so annoyed with them, and I’m taking bets that it’s because her little feet are so adorably chubby!
I was excited about doing cute little store-bought Valentines for Hadley’s class with her (usually totally more my speed than crafting up something!), but these printables from Abby’s blog were too cute and easy to pass up! I ordered the little bouncy balls from Amazon and grabbed the tulle and ribbon from my craft supply bin. Easy and cheap is a winning combo for this girl!
We’ve been baking a lot lately for various reasons, but this is the only pic I snapped of Hadley’s and my recent weekend creations before making a delivery. 🙂 If you totally stink at making baked goods (especially cupcakes) presentable, I highly recommend . I’ve used them constantly the last few months, and they’ve really helped make my iced baked goods at least semi presentable. 😉 Plus, they’re fun to use!

I just love this picture of all three of our sweet girls. I first met Shea at the hair salon (I was her client!), but we remained good friends after she decided to stay home with her new baby girl, Emi. Her family is off for their next adventure, and I’m hopeful that our paths cross again sooner than later! I’m always so grateful to find women whose friendship is so instant and natural, but those “see ya laters” are a total bummer. We’ll miss you girls!
On Valentine’s Day I brought the girls to Hadley’s favorite doughnut spot, Varsity, for a sweet breakfast treat before school. This girl has been my Valentine’s date two years in a row. I’m a lucky duck!
Two nights ago I went in to say prayers with Hadley and shut off her lamp, and I found her like this. That unicorn hat was part of Sadie’s Halloween costume and was in her dress-up bin. I seriously DIED laughing out loud when I walked into her room. She is crazy!
And this little peanut figured out what this giant thing in the living room is. 😉 She pulled up on the bench, reached her hands up, and was pleasantly surprised to find that she could make some noise. She’s crawled over several more times to make some tunes ever since. I love watching her discover new things.
Just a few glimpses into life lately. 🙂
I have February’s gift guide coming up tomorrow, so if somebody special to you has a birthday or anniversary or other celebratory event coming up soon, check back to see the fun items I’ve rounded up! See ya then!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
