Happy Hump Day and the last day of May! I’m getting in this month’s gift guide just in the nick of time. 🙂
This month’s guide is showcasing all things Father’s Day related. I sat down to pour through a few items I’d bookmarked, but then I started thinking about how I wasn’t sure that even I would purchase the items I was suggesting (I haven’t shopped for my own recipients yet. Gotta get on that!) Some seemed just a bit generic. 🙂 I so want these guides to be useful, so I shifted gears and decided to spotlight items that I’ve actually gifted my husband and my dad in the past. All dads are different, but maybe some of these items would be great gifts for your family members like they were for mine.
The one thing I wish I could give my dad this year is time. I haven’t spent Father’s Day with him in person since 2013, so if I could be anywhere this year on Father’s Day it would be in Alabama starting out the day with a jog together, followed by church, lunch at a pizza place of his choice, and then a round of disc golf that afternoon. 🙂
Celebrating Jamie on Father’s Day has been really fun the last few years. He never expects anything and is always happy with whatever direction the day takes. He’s the best dad and spoiling him has been fun!
Here’s a few items I’ve gifted in recent years (as well as a couple things I’d like to gift but haven’t before). Hope this short list is helpful. 🙂
Mission Critical – I got this exact bag for Jamie for Father’s Day last year, and he has used it nearly every day since. Jamie claims that the functionality of it is beyond any other bag that he owns. I’ll trust him on that one! An acquaintance in a mom’s group suggested this bag for guys to carry around when they’re with the kids, and sure enough it’s been a total winner. He not only uses it when he takes the kids out on his own, but he uses it as his carry-on when we fly and his bag that he takes to work daily. I had sticker shock at first, but it still looks as good as the day he got it. I can confidently say that it’s very worth the extra money for a good bag he’ll have for years.
Bottle Breacher – I’ve talked about this product no less than five times before, but Bottle Breachers are such a fun, practical, inexpensive gift for any guy in your life who enjoys cracking open a beer. We’ve used ours as our primary bottle opener ever since I gifted one to Jamie two years ago. Everybody always comments on it when we hand it to them to open their beer!
Plantronics Bluetooth Headphones – I gifted these to Jamie during his last deployment, and he still laughs about they were the best “random” gift ever. This was one of those gifts where he didn’t even know that he wanted something like this, but now that he has them, he couldn’t imagine not having them! Jamie loves them so much that we gifted these headphones to my dad last year too. The price of bluetooth headphones are all over the map on Amazon, but as far as quality goes, you definitely get what you pay for with this pair. Highly recommend!
Sunglasses – I personally don’t like wearing expensive sunglasses because I misplace them all the time (and get so upset when I can’t find them if they were pricey), but for some reason I enjoy splurging on the men in my life. They seem to hold on to their glasses better. 😉 My siblings and I got our dad these Costas six years ago, and he always wears them when he runs or works in the yard since they are designed for full-sun situations, on the water, etc.. Jamie has had these Maui Jims for years, and they’re his true blue sunglasses.

New shirt – I don’t know how much Jamie appreciates this (maybe more than I realize?), but I have always think it’s fun to give him a new shirt to wear to church on Father’s Day. A new shirt always makes its way to my dad too when I’m not quite sure what else to get him for Christmas/birthday/Father’s Day/etc. 🙂 I purchased for my Dad’s birthday a couple months ago, and he looks sharp in it!
Picture mug – When in doubt, hop over to Shutterfly and . We’ve done regular coffee cups as well as tall travel mugs. They always go over swimmingly. 🙂 I just looked back through my previous orders and saw that I’ve created 11 different mugs in the last three years. Ha!
Let’s chat!
What would you add to this list? What have you gifted the fathers in your life that they’ve truly loved and appreciated? I would appreciate your suggestions since I haven’t shopped for Father’s Day myself yet. 🙂
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
