Are you thinking about having your bachelorette weekend in Destin? Here’s my experience celebrating with my best friend in Destin, FL.
The last few days were a total whirlwind of driving, flying, and a lot of welcomed girlfriend time.
We celebrated my best friend Ashley’s upcoming July wedding with her bachelorette weekend down in Destin, Florida, and we had a blast!
Bachelorette Weekend In Destin
Is she not the cutest?! I’m so happy for her that she’s found her dream guy that I could just cry… in fact, I think I have two or three times in the last few months during various conversations with her or her fiancé. 😉 Ha!
Her sister Scarlett found us the most amazing house for our two-night quick trip. It was by far the nicest beach house I’ve ever stayed in!
I flew direct from Kansas City to Pensacola around lunchtime Friday and then drove over to Destin in a rental car to meet the rest of the attending bridesmaids. We walked over to for a sunset dinner on the terrace, which was the most beautiful, relaxing way to kick off the weekend.
On Saturday morning I FaceTimed with Jamie and the girls while several of the other girls caught up with their husbands and kiddos too. 🙂 This is Sadie’s new favorite face to make, and it’s just the cutest thing!
We all filled up on scrambled eggs, baked goods, fruit, yogurt, and mimosas before heading out to the beach around 9:30. A few of the girls put together these goodies for everyone which we made sure to bring out to the beach. Everybody rocked the pink glasses while Ashley had her white ones. 🙂
The weather could not have been more gorgeous. We only had one full beach day, so we were thrilled that it was so nice. We lounged in chairs, went in and out of the ocean a bunch of times, and just enjoyed a relaxed day.
I told Jamie that I haven’t legitimately felt that relaxed and carefree since before I got pregnant with Hadley, and I mean it. I sat down in the beach chair Saturday morning and I could just feel any kind of stress leave my body. I knew the girls were exactly where they needed to be with Jamie. I was with several of my best friends, it was a gorgeous day, and I just felt so happy.
We walked over to Camille’s to grab lunch and take a break from the sun around 1 and then spent a couple more hours on the beach until it was time to shower and get ready for a fun evening out.
We did a little shower for Ashley once we were all ready, we took a few pictures, and then headed to for dinner.
This was our “high school” picture, even though “growing up” picture is more accurate. We all started going to school together in fifth grade (and some of them even younger than that). Ashley (the bride) and I were roommates in college. It’s hard to replace the people who have known you through so many awkward life stages. Ha! Love these friends dearly.
After dinner we headed to Rum Runners at Baytowne and spent a few hours being entertained by the dueling pianists. They were excellent! By midnight we were on our way back to the house to slip on pjs to hang a bit more in the living room before our eyes just couldn’t take staying open anymore. 🙂
I had a noon flight from Pensacola to Kansas City, so by 8:30 I gave lots of hugs and headed out the door to get home to my fam as quick as I could. I chatted with my mom and sister in Germany almost the whole way to Pensacola, snoozed on the flight to KC, and then listened the “Up and Vanished” podcast on the final two hour drive from KC to Manhattan. Jamie had some teriyaki chicken and rice/veggies ready for dinner when I got home, and then I go to see Sadie start to take six or seven steps on her own. 🙂 She’ll be 14 months old on Sunday and finally about ready to nail this walking thing. Hooray!
Missing my girlfriends already but am more excited than ever for the real wedding weekend to be here in just a few short weeks.
I hope you had a nice weekend, friends. 🙂
Let’s chat!
1.) What are your favorite spots to visit when vacationing in Destin and the surrounding areas?
PS: See pictures from Ashley’s wedding six weeks later!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
