Well hi! I hope this mid-week post finds you well as we round out June here in a few days. 🙂 I feel like this month went by in a flash, and we’re predicting July will do more of the same. Summer is flyin’ by!
We’ve been home for a couple days settling back in from a whirlwind five days in Georgia, and today I’m excited to share a few pictures from our time just the two of us in charming Savannah!
One of Jamie’s closest friends (and partner in crime, ha!) from West Point got married on Saturday evening, and Jamie was honored to be a groomsman. We were excited for an excuse to get away to a touristy place just the two of us, and once our flights were booked, we were practically counting down the days until we left!
Catherine Ward House
We opted to stay a couple blocks down from the wedding site at the cutest little bed and breakfast called the , and it did not disappoint! I’d stayed in B&Bs a couple times prior for work and with girlfriends, but this was Jamie’s first time. He said that we’ll definitely be staying in B&Bs more in the future when just the two of us travel.
We didn’t get to Savannah until about 3:30, and with the rehearsal at 5, we had our work cut out for us! We checked in, got the house tour, quickly got ready, and high-fived as we made it out the door with time to spare until the rehearsal. 🙂
The rehearsal dinner and rehearsal dinner “after/welcome party” (this was a stinkin’ nice wedding!) were held at Churchill Pub and were so great. Jamie saw a handful of his college classmates, and I enjoyed meeting everyone as well. Such a fun night to kick-off a celebratory weekend for an amazing couple!
For breakfast we could choose between eating at 8:30 or 9:30, and because we are early risers anyway, we knew 8:30 would be no problem. Staying in bed past 7:00 a.m. is sleeping in for us anyway. 🙂 We sat with the nicest couples who were from all over (even a sweet couple from England!) and really enjoyed talking with them Saturday and Sunday mornings. This type of atmosphere is totally up our alley! We love to make friends. 😉
Jamie didn’t need to do groomsman things until late afternoon, so after breakfast we put on our tennis shoes and spent the morning aimlessly walking the streets of Savannah exploring. We loved our B&B location for this reason; We never had to move our car after arriving on Friday! We eventually grabbed lunch and made our way back to get ready to join some of the wedding guests at the pool where several were staying.
I could have lived at this pool, located at the . It was so beautiful! It was all just so relaxing and I was so happy to be enjoying the atmosphere and friends with Jamie. We were both having a great time with everyone in a truly picturesque spot!
I’ve had a bunch of questions about this suit! It’s from Lands End. I’d read their suits are great for moms who need to “play” at the pool because they don’t really move around much, and I have to agree! This suit runs fairly true to size, but if you’re unsure about a size, I suggest sizing up!
Wedding at Forsyth Park
Before we knew it, it was wedding time! I sprinted back to the B&B to get ready and Jamie headed off with the groomsmen. The wedding was at 5 p.m. in front of the fountain at Forsyth Park, and whoa… it was breathtaking.
Len & Corryn make the best couple. They were so sweet and happy all weekend, and we couldn’t be any happier for Len. He is such a great guy and definitely found his match.
Wedding Reception at Forsyth Mansion
By 8:30 the next morning we were at breakfast soaking up our last hour or so before we needed to be on the road. This was my second time to Savannah and think it’s an adorable city! Some of our close friends are moving there in a few weeks, so Jamie and I are happy that we’ll have a reason to go back again sooner than later. 🙂
Let’s chat!
Have you been to Savannah?
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
