Hello, hello! I rarely do blogger link-ups, but I’ve always enjoyed Momfessionals’s “Show and Tell Tuesday”. Not only are her prompts usually right up my alley to write about, but I always enjoy reading posts that others share as well!
Today her prompt is all about apps on one’s cell phone. I actually wrote about my favorite apps early last year, but surprisingly my list of favorite apps looks pretty different than it did back then. I think a lot of my needs and interests have changed after having a second baby (i.e. more stress, tighter wallet, needing to exercise and meditate and pray, yadda yadda). 🙂
Basically having two kids has totally rocked my world and life is so crazy and so good at all the same time, but I needed more apps to manage the chaos. 😉 #21stcenturyparenting
Besides the obvious social media apps, here’s a look at my favorite apps, all which I highly recommend for one reason or another.
– I’ve written about this app no less than 10 times on the blog, but it’s been my favorite since 2011. If you frequently fly, stay in hotels, or rent cars you need this app! Seriously, it’s a game changer. It syncs to my email and pulls all of my reservations. It groups them into an easy-to-read itinerary and tells me flight times, numbers, addresses, helpful phone numbers, and so much more.
– I love tracking the weather, so this app is my go-to for figuring out if rain is headed our way. Much more accurate than the standard weather app.
– I use this app when I run to keep track of my mileage, pace, route, etc.
– I hit this white noise app on if I’m having trouble sleeping. I also crank it up if we’re out and about somewhere and need to get Sadie to sleep.
– I wrote a post late last year about how we use Mint.com to budget our finances. I pop onto this app everyday and categorize our spending.
– Jamie found this app a couple years ago and it’s saved our tails numerous times! Basically a user can take a picture of a document and Genius Scan immediately converts it into a PDF file that you can email to someone. I’ve used it so many times for blogging and signing contracts. I’ll print out a contract, fill out the info, sign it, and then use Genius Scan to send it back quickly and easily. Jamie and I have also used this app when he’s deployed and need to send official documents back and forth to each other easily.
– Our family uses this app to call and FaceTime my sister in Germany for free.
– A family member got me hooked on this app back in April, and I’ve been using it to track my food ever since! It scans barcodes in a quick second and is super user friendly. It’s helped me lose a few pounds simply by making me aware of how quickly calories add up! This app offers excellent accountability.
– My bestie Meg got me into Bitmoji and now they’re my favorite to send. You can make a little person that kind of looks like you, and the options of images to send are kind of hilarious.
– I prefer to read my physical Bible so that I can mark in it, but I do like having my Bible app available at all times.
– Y’all. I have never been a meditator and always thought it was a little silly, but I felt really overwhelmed one night when Jamie was gone in February, so I downloaded a random meditation app to try to chill out a bit. I use it now at least once a week to simply unwind at the end of the day. I wouldn’t say I’m a very anxious person, but when life happens and I can feel my stress levels creeping higher, a few minutes of quiet with this meditation app is usually a nice fix!
Let’s chat!
What amazing apps am I missing out on?!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
