Hey friends! Sorry I missed ya yesterday without a Monday post. We’ve been enjoying Jamie’s long weekend and working our tails off on our kitchen. Happy to report that we are done done DONE!
I have a whole slew of pictures from the last couple of weeks that I’ve put together in two “Slice of Life” posts – one for today and the other for tomorrow – so double the fun. 🙂 I actually planned a “Slice of Life” post for last week, but that turned into my “When Social Media Doesn’t Tell the Whole Story” post, simply because I was writing the post while clearly leaving out a big part of our weekend.
So let’s backtrack a bit and I’ll give you a glimpse of what we’ve been up to. 🙂
If you have young kids, do you keep character Band-Aids on hand? I swear that Hadley hopes to see blood when she trips and falls simply because she can’t get enough of her princess Band-Aids. She took a nice little tumble on our walk with a girlfriend a couple weeks ago, and the promise of princess Band-Aids once we got home was enough to dry her tears pretty quick and keep on with our walk. Go figure. 😉

I shared on my IG story a couple weeks ago that Rxbars are my new snack obsession, and apparently a lot of you love them too, especially the new(ish) fruity flavors, like blueberry. I’ve only tried the chocolate chip, , and , and I love all three (especially chocolate chip). I remember thinking that my first few bites were interesting, but these bars quickly grew on me and now I love them. I ordered a box from Amazon’s Subscribe and Save last month, which made them cheaper than our local grocery store.

I love Sadie’s tiny little red toes. 🙂 I don’t think she’s fazed by them in the slightest, but Hadley gets a real kick out of seeing Sadie’s toes painted like hers. The key to painting Sadie’s toes is putting her in her high chair right when she starts eating so that she’s relatively still and will be there enough time to let them dry. I don’t remember caring about my nails or toes being painted when I was little, but it’s one of Hadley’s favorite things in the entire world.

I’m working on a fun little blogging project with a few local restaurants, so we’ve been having fun running around as a family and enjoying our meals out around town. Excited to spotlight these restaurants soon! Kansas readers, stay tuned. 🙂

A few weeks ago Shay talked about a certain brand of biker-type shorts her girls wear under their dresses, and I immediately knew Hadley needed something like this. Since she’s my oldest, this wasn’t something that had crossed my mind yet. I wanted to find something a little cheaper though and settled on this . Hadley’s already worn them a handful of times, and while she’s not super happy about it yet, we’re sure are!

Ummm… somebody got her ears pierced!
We kind of did it on a whim after asking Hadley if she wanted to get her ears pierced while walking around the mall on a rainy day, and she was all about it! Shockingly (!!!), Jamie was the one who suggested it?! I debated telling her that it might pinch a little bit, but I didn’t because I didn’t want her to be tense and flinch (after all, they only get one shot to get it right!) Hadley was genuinely so excited! The video of them piercing her ears (both at the same time) is actually kind of pitiful because she’s so excited and calm, and then she bursts into tears.

Jamie worked his “dad magic” and consoled her pretty quickly while we paid and scooted out of there with her new itty bitty pearl earrings. So stinkin’ precious!

She just kept saying over and over that she couldn’t wait to show Grandma, Grandpa, Miya, and Papaw. 🙂 We made sure to FaceTime all of them immediately so she could show off what a big girl she is. 🙂 I can’t help but wonder if she’ll remember getting them pierced. I was her age almost exactly when I got mine pierced, and I definitely have little snapshot memories of the experience.

And before I wrap up this post, I have to share my new fitness venture! Have any of you ever done 9 Round? After reading about it for a couple years, I about died when I saw that they’re opening one a few miles from our home! It opens in October, so I signed up as a charter member and locked in a nice little monthly discount. This type of fitness is totally up my alley, so I’m pumped to get started! Manhattan friends, you should look into it! My bestie Meg knows the new owners pretty well, and she said they’re just the nicest people. Here’s a little shameless plug, but they have a referral program, so I’d be mega grateful if you mentioned my name that I referred you. 😉 And then maybe you can go on to refer other people?! Everybody wins! Ha. 🙂

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
