After looking back at the pictures in today’s and yesterday’s posts, I’ve realized we’ve done a lot of living outside the last couple weeks. The weather here in northeast Kansas has been unseasonably “cool” (we haven’t hit 90 all month), and comfortable weather like this has all of us wanting to be outdoors. It’s been wonderful!
I’m not quite ready for fall weather just yet, but this pleasant shift from the 100s has been welcomed by everybody you talk to around here!
Here’s part two of my most recent “Slice of Life”. 🙂
I shared on social media last week that “car carts” make these girls so stinkin’ giddy. Hadley squeals as soon as she sees one available and Sadie reaches to be put into it immediately. Last week I had a few things to grab from Home Depot, and I felt like I was actually doing my girls a favor by bringing them there based on how much they loved cruising around. I love this about their ages right now – they’re very easy to please when it comes to our outings and errands. They can find the fun in almost any destination.
On Sunday afternoon we went to our little town’s “Pet Poolooza”, which is an annual event where all families are invited to bring their dogs to swim before this specific pool closes for the season and is drained. It also serves as a fundraiser for local pet-related nonprofits. Such a great idea, right? We’ve missed it the last couple years because it falls right during nap time, but this year we made it work since it’s our last summer here.
Teddy showed the big dogs (literally) that he could hold his own in the water and swam like a champ. He honestly didn’t hate it as much as I expected, and he loved checking out all the other pups. 🙂
Sadie had a blast watching it all, throwing a zillion tennis balls, and petting all the cute small dogs (she’s way into dogs right now!)
There was even a shark sighting!
I wanted to show you these cute cut-out booties I snagged on major sale when I was home in Alabama last month. I’ve gotten to wear them earlier than expected since it’s been a little “cooler” (70s… ha!) and already know they’re going to be a staple this fall. My exact pair is here but you can find more from the brand (including more colors of mine below) on Amazon. I’d never heard of them before, but their shoes are CUTE!
This girl and her sleep. She has been sleeping 11+ hours a night since February (after working with our sleep trainer), but her nap time schedule is all over the place. Transitioning to one nap has been a little challenging, especially when she frequently wants to rise and shine before 6 a.m. Making it all the way to 11:30/12 before she goes down for a nap is tough stuff! On Sunday she was up and at ’em by 5:10, which means Hadley followed shortly after since she heard us all up. We made lemonade from lemons, threw our shoes and jackets on, and enjoyed a long sunrise walk before getting ready for church. Didn’t hate it. I think I’ll look back on this season of our lives and recall frequent family walks as some of our favorite times.
And that’s just another slice of life. 🙂 Halfway through the week already; hope you’re having a good one, friends!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
