Greetings from Salt Lake City! Have you been to this city before? It’s absolutely beautiful! Before yesterday I’d only been to SLC for a brief layover, and just that taste years ago of flying over the lakes was enough to dream of visiting again one day.
I’m here in Utah for the Enlighten Retreat that kicks off later this morning, so I had the day yesterday obligation-free to explore. I mapped out my day ahead of time after browsing TripAdvisor.com for a while, and headed straight to Big Cottonwood Canyon. I spent a few hours hiking, taking pictures, and enjoying some quiet time. A big part of me longed for Jamie and my kids to be with me soaking up this beautiful place (everything is better with their company!), but another part of me recognized that I need to soak in these rare, quiet moments to recharge when I can get them.
After my hike, I did some window shopping in a couple different parts of the city, walked around downtown, and then snagged In-N-Out for dinner. I hadn’t had an In-N-Out fix since we lived in Arizona three years ago, so it tasted darn good. 🙂
After dinner I headed to the hotel that I’d snagged for cheap with Priceline’s “Name your Price” tool and caught up on a few things on my computer. Around 8 I headed back to the airport to grab one of the two women I’m sharing a car and hotel with and booked it right back to the hotel.
We met our third roommate back at the hotel and stayed up yakking and getting to know each other for a while before putting together this post and calling it a night. We’re headed down to Heber City this morning and are expectant of a wonderful few days ahead.
I’ll be sharing on IG Stories throughout my time at the Enlighten Retreat, so feel free to follow along here. 🙂
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
