Not only does this series feature bloggers from all varieties of niches, but they’re writing from all around the world too! Earlier this year I featured bloggers from Singapore and Thailand, and I’m thrilled today to introduce Klara, who does all of her blogging from Down Under. She’s been such a pleasure to chat back and forth with throughout the last month, and I think you’ll see from her interview today how kind, intelligent, and creative she is. Also, she has TWO blogs and has successfully organized teams for both. So awesome. Talk about a goal crusher! Meet Klara. 🙂
Q: Tell us a little bit about who you are in three sentences or less. 🙂
A: I’m a 31-year-old blogger, free-lance writer and (mostly) stay-at-home-mum. I live in Perth, Western Australia with my husband Chris, my two-year-old son Jackson, two dogs and a cat. I run two blogs – Her Happy Heart and She the Fierce – and I am just crazy about writing (it’s my favourite non-parenting-related thing to do!).
Q: When did you start your blog, and what do you primarily blog about?
A: I’ve actually been blogging on and off since 2006, but I began seriously getting into it last year. In August 2016 I launched Her Happy Heart, a women’s lifestyle blog with the goal of encouraging and inspiring women to live their best, most joy-filled lives. In June 2017 I also launched a faith-based motherhood blog called She the Fierce. Both blogs are written by awesome teams of women based in Perth and the US.
Q: You have quite the team listed on your blog! What role do each of these women play in producing content for your blog?
A: My awesome team on Her Happy Heart have a variety of talents that I am extremely grateful for! Each girl has her own unique set of interests that they like to write about – Tahlia does a lot of our health and fitness content and is always coming up with delicious healthy recipes, Ash is awesome with all things beauty and style as well as handy life tips, and Hannah knows heaps about travel and some big trending lifestyle topics. They all take lovely photos for their posts when needed, and a couple of them even help me out by creating graphics.
My team on She the Fierce are purely writers – they each write a piece a month, and leave the rest of the details to me.
I’m so grateful for both teams – without them, the blogs wouldn’t be anywhere near what they are! Every time one of my team members submits a piece, I just get goosebumps. I’ve even almost cried a couple of times (for real). It’s such a thrill to be able to share their creativity and ideas on my platforms!
Q: I’ve always been so fascinated with Australia and would love to hear more about it. Do you live by the coast? What are some of your favorite things about living in Australia?
A: We live very close to the coast – our home is a 12-minute drive to the beach, and I get out there pretty regularly to play with my son, catch up with friends or write at my favourite café while looking at the water. I love the casual vibe we have in Australia, and I love that Australians generally love each other and want the best for each other. I know a lot of people are afraid of our wildlife, but I promise it’s not as scary a place to live in as it sounds!
Q: Have you ever been to the US? What kind of opinion do Aussies have about Americans? Ha!
A: My personal opinion of Americans is pretty great, but that may be because I’m married to a Californian. Hehe! No, truthfully I visited the US a few times as a child with my family, road tripping across the country, and I have to say that America is one of my favourite places in the world. I would gladly go all the time if we had the funds! Plus Americans make up about 60% of my readership… so yay America! I think Australians generally find Americans fascinating – everything in the US seems larger than life. Culturally we’re very similar, but somehow everything in America seems bigger and brighter.
Q: Do you have any big dreams or goals you’re working on for your blog for next year?
A: I would love to start sharing on a more personal level a little more regularly than I am. It’s hard finding the right way to incorporate personal touches to a team-written lifestyle blog, but I know that all my favourite blogs are awesome because the readers get to know the person behind the screen. I would also love to start working with brands a little more regularly.
Q: How do you balance being a SAHM and also keeping up with your blog?
A: Nap time for the win! Ha! My son sleeps for 2-3 hours every day, so at the moment that’s my blogging time. My amazing parents and in-laws also help me out by clocking some grandparent time so I can get out of the house and work in a café for a few hours once a week or so. My husband works full time but on weekends, if I’m behind or have a job that really needs doing (or if I can come up with a really awesome bribe…), he takes over at home so I can get on top of things. I’m extremely fortunate for all these opportunities!
Q: Where can new readers start on your site?
A: On Her Happy Heart:
How to accept others’ success and use it to leverage your own
How to host a kick-ass dinner party
Toasted s’mores croissants with peanut butter maple drizzle
And on She the Fierce:
She is fierce in her battle: a plea for love above all
The power of breaking free from mum guilt
Let’s keep loving: the case against too much self-care
Q: Where can we find you on social media?
A: Her Happy Heart:
Facebook | Instagram | Bloglovin
She the Fierce:
Facebook | Instagram | Bloglovin
And just for fun…
- Hair blow dried or hair dried? I think I last blow-dried my hair in 2013… I am so low-maintenance it hurts. Ha!
- Dark or light nail polish? Light – I love pastels!
- Doughnuts or ice cream? Ice cream (I spent way too long considering this though!)
- Small or big dogs? Well we have one of each! But generally I’m a big dog person.

Thank you so much Klara!

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
