Ah, tomorrow is a special, special day in my little orbit because it celebrates so many people that are dear to me.
In particular, Happy Veteran’s Day to this guy, who I am so (so!) incredibly lucky to call my husband.
He is the hardest working, most well-rounded guy I’ve ever met, and I’ve never bragged on him more than I have the last couple of months. He is working so hard juggling so many things, with 14 months of command time concluding on Monday. Serving in the military is all he ever wanted to do with his life, and he has served so well. No one will ever be able to take the title of Veteran away from you, babe.
Happy Veterans Day (tomorrow) to so many of my favorite people: my brother-in-law, father-in-law, uncle, and a TON of our closest friends. I’m so glad we have days like Veterans Day. I could never imagine serving in the military and am constantly in awe of what our service members go through. Behind the scenes is wild. Our veterans are heroes!
Year after year I’m blown away by how businesses show gratitude to and spoil our vets on and around Veterans’ Day.
Let’s talk about one of my favorite chain restaurants, Outback Steakhouse! Random fact about me, but I worked there for four years in high school and college (during breaks).
I worked as a hostess, did the “take away” server thing, and then served as a waitress for the bulk of the time. For a couple years, my brother and sister worked there too! My parents visited us so frequently that they became great friends with our managers and fellow employees as well. It was honestly super fun for a few years. Outback is an awesome company!
Tomorrow (November 11th), they’re thanking Veterans with a free Bloomin’ Onion and a beverage! If you’re a vet, run by Outback tomorrow to get that free appetizer. YUM.
If you can’t make it there tomorrow, stop by between November 12 through November 16 for 20% off of your check. WHOOP!
And there’s more! (I love Outback. SO generous.) Beginning November 17, Military, Fire and Police heroes will receive 10% off their check.
Operation Homefront: At Outback, We Serve Those Who Serve
Outback Steakhouse is also joining forces with Operation Homefront, a nonprofit whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families, to launch the “At Outback, We Serve Those Who Serve” year-long campaign.
Starting November 8 through January 2, 2018, Outback customers will have the opportunity to demonstrate their support for military families through purchases at their local Outback restaurant:
o For every purchase of a Foster’s Lager Big Bloke, MillerCoors* will donate $1 to Operation Homefront.
o For every purchase of Outback’s New Patriotic Punch, Outback** will donate $1 to Operation Homefront.
o Customers can add $1 to their check to be donated directly to Operation Homefront.
o Customers’ donation of $5 or more will be used to purchase Outback gift cards that will be shared with military families by Operation Homefront.
Veterans are close to my heart, Outback is close to my heart, and my dad has always loved getting a beer at Outback (check out all of those donations above being made with beer purchases!), SO I feel like all of my worlds are colliding here. 🙂
Seriously though, when I got an email sharing all of this with me, I couldn’t say a faster yes that I wanted to share this with all of you. This is the kind of stuff that makes the world go run – people helping people, and I love that Operation Homefront and Outback have teamed up together to do this.
So once again, Happy Veterans Day! If you’re celebrating a vet in your life that you love, go get that Bloomin’ Onion (and always ask for extra Bloom sauce because DUH).

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
