Happy happy happy Friday!
Today should be a little extra fun around here because I’m kicking off a new decade today! I’ve been oddly looking forward to 30 for a while and am extra glad to have Jamie home this year to spend this special day with. 🙂
I thought it would be fun to do a light-hearted “Slice of Life” today with my birthday stamped in the title so that I can always look back and see exactly what life looked like when I turned 30. 🙂
This is a frequent view around here. I think I’ve mentioned before that Sadie loves to be in the kitchen eating, cooking, baking, dancing, screaming for more milk, doing the dishes… it doesn’t matter. She just loves to be in this area of the house. I thought this site was cute: Sadie watching Daddy make scrambled eggs. Also, I love that little booty in skinny jeans!

This four year old stage with Hadley is kind of blowing my mind lately. Just in the last week or two I’ve been seeing her as much more of independent little girl who seems to fully hold her own in conversations and activities. She has  really great, well thought out ideas and just seems to be much more of a responsible member of our family, if that makes sense. 😉 She recently asked me to curl her hair before school, and my heart about burst with how much I love doing this kind of stuff with her. It makes me so sad when I think about my girls getting bigger, but I’m equally loving every new stage of their development.
Little did I know when I took this picture just how sick both girls would get. You can tell that Sadie is a wreck in this picture, but Hadley seems fine besides having her tennis shoes on the wrong feet. 🙂 Three days later she caught what Sadie had (the doctor is pretty confident they both had the flu). Everyone is good and healthy now, but dang… last week about kicked our tails!
Six straight days of Sadie being sick as a dog was tough on everyone. My normally great sleeper now couldn’t sleep more than an hour without crying out in discomfort. Jamie was out in the field, so this was how I watched the National Championship game – on mute, with a really sick baby in my arms who could only sleep comfortably here. I didn’t hate it.
Everybody thankfully was on the mend by the time my in-laws arrived to watch the girls for a few days while we were down in Alabama. Here they’re pictured playing before we left for the airport. Everyone was happy!
I walked in to my very own princess party on Tuesday when we flew home! Hadley and my MIL had been hard at work decorating and preparing, and I was totally surprised! Hadley was BEAMING and so proud to have put this together with her grandmother. It was a very sweet surprise, complete with party hats, my choice of dinner, and a delicious buttercream princess cake. 🙂
My car has never had so much dog hair in it. Oh my stars. Teddy is loving all of these house showing because he gets to go everywhere with us! Sitting on either my lap or Hadley’s lap are his two preferred spots to hang. Hadley would prefer he sit with her, and she giggles and pets him the entire time. Watching these two love each other so much is seriously the sweetest thing!
This is our fourth winter here in Kansas, and this one is BY FAR the worst cold-weather wise. We always have a few days with single digits or negative temps each winter, but the last four weeks have been filled almost entirely with single digit or negative temperature days. It’s crazy how the temperature is so relative. There have been just a few days that reached the 30s, and it’s insane how they feel like a heat wave! Being able to shed the hats and gloves on those days feels like such a luxury!
And here are just a few more pics from some down time at home during these fever-filled, dangerously cold days…
My kiddos…
Sadie painting with water…

… and playtime in the snow with neighbors. Great neighbors are THE BEST.
And that’s just another slice of our lives! Have a beautiful weekend!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
