Hello, hello, and welcome back to another week of “The Saturday Sit-Down!” Believe it or not, I’m actually in Birmingham again this morning. One of my long-time best friends turned 30 yesterday, so a girlfriend and I drove down last night to surprise her at a little party her husband put together. We’re heading home this morning because I have a long list of things I’m excited to work on around the house this weekend. 🙂
Today I have Jen on the blog, and she is one of the absolute sweetest readers and commenters on my own blog. She always writes the most insightful comments that let me know she truly reads my content, which means a lot to me since I tend to blab on and on at times. 😉 She writes her own fantastic blog, so thanks in advance for clicking over to her site once you’re finished with this interview and checking out her content. She’s a good once to have in your corner! Meet Jen.
Q: Hi Jen! In three sentences or less, tell us a little bit about who you are.
A: Hello! My name is Jen, mother to 4 amazing kids with one awesome husband. We’re are an Army family and are currently in Colorado Springs. I’m into anything crafty or sewing and exploring the place we currently call home.
Q: Tell us about your blogging journey! When did you start, how did you come up with the name, etc.
A: I blogged in high school and college so blogging has just always something I have done. I started my current blog in 2011, my husband was deployed and I was a brand new mom. My original name was BeebeeBelly and blogged about motherhood mostly. In 2015, I rebranded to injenious life – a name my husband came up with and refocused to share more craft tutorials and recipes as well as our adventures in Hawaii at the time, but now I’m sharing our Colorado activities.
Q: I believe you’re my first Army veteran as well as an Army wife! Did you meet your husband while you were both serving? How long were you both dual military?
A: I met my husband when I was still on active duty. We were in the same squadron and hit it off almost immediately. I had another 18 months on my active contract and transitioned to the Reserves while he was deployed. Since then, I have done several short tours but mostly just weekends.
Q: What were a few of the highlights of your career in the Army?
A: I absolutely loved being in command. As a medical officer, most of my career will be on staff but having the opportunity to command for 2 years was an absolute joy. I had the best company any one could as for and I honestly miss it every time I go to work.
Q: I saw that you were recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease. How has this diagnosis changed your life?
A: Oh man, it has changed everything! All our dinners need to be gluten free, which means paying more for pasta when it’s spaghetti night. Eating out on the fly is a challenge so I constantly am googling restaurant menus. But it isn’t all bad, my husband and I embraced the challenge and have become better cooks because of it.
Q: What are some of your favorite things about being a mom to four children?
A: When we first got married, I had only planned on having 3 kids but he wanted 4 and having a baby is one of the best things ever. I love that everyone has a buddy so there is never an odd man out. Seeing each kid react to the newest kid has also been fun. So far, all of them have embraced sibling life but I’m sure once they become teenagers that will change.
Q: Where should new readers start on your site?
Since it’s PCS season, here are some tips for what to do when the movers are at your house: http://injeniouslife.com/2016/06/pcs-tips-packers-packing.html

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
