If your big ol’ heart pitter-patters to the beat of having everything organized, you may just have a new project to work on once you finish skimming through this post. 😉 For that reason, I’ll keep this short and sweet!
During my recent trip to Georgia, I noticed that my friend Jessica had all of her kids’ First Aid and hygiene items neatly organized in a mini hanging organizer, and I was instantly inspired to do something similar to get a grip on our medicine cabinet. I literally ordered from Amazon within minutes so that it would arrive at my house by the time I got home a few days later.
You know how I organize my life according to my ongoing to-do lists that are all over my kitchen? One item that continued to stare me down day after day was “organize medicine cabinet”. This was how the medicine/first aid/sunscreen situation was looking in our hallway towel closet since we moved in, but I kept putting off the task of organizing it because I just didn’t know what to do.
Finding anything was impossible, and similar to our spice jar situation, I would often end up with multiples of the same medicine simply because I initially couldn’t find what I was looking for. These wire racks simply did not seem conducive for long-term, easy functionality.
But then I saw Jessica’s hanging organizer and knew that something similar was the solution I’d been looking for.
Organizing Medicine and First Aid
When it came time to organizing, I dumped everything out on our kitchen countertops that were related to medicine, first aid (I had no idea we had so many Band-Aids!), and sunscreen/inspect repellent, and from there I got to work!
I took it a step further than I usually do and made use of some that I’d gotten from the Enlighten Retreat and labeled each section. This way everyone knows where everything goes (even guests who are visiting and want/need to dig through it), and if a pouch is empty, I’ll know to replenish it next time I’m at the store.
Start to finish, this project took right at an hour to do. Now it’s neatly hanging in our hallway closet with jackets and vacuums. I could have moved all of that out of the way to create a more attractive picture, but I wanted you to realistically see how (and where) this is going to function for our family for the long haul. Plus, our towel closet can now be solely that: a towel closet. And no, I don’t plan on doing a post on how that closet gets organized because it’ll be as simple and fold and place. 😉
Oh, ps: It’s two-sided! So much space!
Ahh, I didn’t know “organization hacks” would make me SO HAPPY, but they totally do! Anyone else want to admit that they “geek out” over this sort of thing? I think I just really like when things that were formerly pesky are now so easy!
Want to see more? I organized my spices and kids’ dinnerware and cups here and gift wrap here (life changing, I swear it!)
Let’s chat!
What “simple” space in your home did you reorganize that made such a big difference?

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
