Ahh, where did we leave off? Finishing up this week’s “Slice of Life” post today. <3 If you missed the first one, you can back track here.
Thanks to my bestie Jessica (who then gives all the credit to Pinterest – haha), the girls and I whipped together three of these special plates for Father’s Day (one for Jamie and two more for each of their grandpas). Everyone loved them, and the girls thoroughly enjoyed painting their hands and participating (Hadley actually painted most of the white base coat as well). This was our first time dabbling with pottery painting, but I’d love to bring just Hadley back again this summer. She had her eye on so many thing to paint! Local readers, we went to Artis Studio on HWY 72.
These are my people on a rushed Sunday morning trying to get out the door for church. Obviously hanging between Dad’s feet is where Sadie thinks is the best spot for her. 😉 I can’t quite understand how every Sunday turns a bit nutty when we’re 10 minutes out from leaving, but sure enough, it always happens. I can’t even remember why I took this picture despite the chaos, but sometimes the chaos makes me a crazy person and other times it makes me laugh so hard despite all of it. I bet you that I was laughing and counting my many blessing while snapping this one.
One night a week we’ve been hanging at the ball field lately watching Jamie play softball with his company. We’ve enjoyed it! He likes to see the girls there watching him.
Oh, these sisters. They are the best little friends. They drive each other absolutely bananas around the house 50% of the time, but when we’re out and about, they’re inseparable. I think they find so much safety in each other and are usually stuck together like glue. It’s really sweet; I just wish they’d be more like that at home. 😉
I must have been in a super good mood on Saturday afternoon considering I laughed so hard instead of getting annoyed when I saw that Hadley had snuck into her bathroom to color all over her face with a marker. Oh my Lordy – she is SO every bit of a four year old! We had some spontaneous company on Saturday, so the girls and I spent the whole afternoon cooking up four or five dishes and had a blast jamming to music and cooking. 🙂 This kitchen island has been so perfect for cooking with them because they’re able to observe without being all over whatever I’m trying to do. I wrote once on an IG picture that I know I’ll have a bunch of pictures of the girls as they grow while cooking around this island with me, and that idea makes me so dang happy.
Sometimes (most of the time) I just adore watching her be a kid. She washed it all off herself, and boy oh boy did she enjoy the laughs that came from Sadie when she saw it. 🙂
We love “Ashie”! My best friend Ashley and her husband Wade came to visit for the weekend, and we were lucky enough to host them Saturday night! There’s zero wondering why my girls are obsessed with her. She played with them every chance she could, let them play with some of her makeup while we all got ready Sunday morning, and just generally was so sweet with them like always. We adore you, Ash!
I went with a couple friends to a local trampoline park for the first time this week, and the girls absolutely loved it. Hadley hasn’t stopped asking to go back. Sadie enjoyed it when she wasn’t asking me to go to the bathroom 100 times (eye roll – I just love the whole potty training process), but overall we were super satisfied! I was a little leery to take them prior just because I’ve heard so many horror stories about bigger kids bouncing little kids, broken bones, etc., but going right when they opened was a fabulous option. We adults got to talk and hang and the littles got to run out energy for two hours. We later joked about how all six of our kids passed out and took excellent naps that afternoon, so for that reason alone we’ll be frequenting this place a lot more this summer!
I shared on my IG stories over the weekend that we are casually couch shopping, and by “casually” I mean that there’s nothing technically wrong with what we have except that it’s so mismatched, but we’re starting to research, shop around, figure out what we like, and then figure out just how much money we’re going to have to save/set aside for whatever we pick. Well well well, I stumbled across my winner yesterday, and wouldn’t you know that it’s the tip top most expensive that we’ve seen. Surprise! 😉 This is the Envelop couch from Bassett, and it’s the couch of my DREAMS. I would love to add one more armless chair in there and then set up that ottoman to function as a chaise. Ahhh. I’m not sure how we’ll ever settle on something else after finding this little piece of Heaven. The search continues!
And speaking of house stuff, we finally hung up some curtains in our master bedroom yesterday. I wasn’t in a rush to find any, but the sun has been lighting up our room at 5:30 a.m. every day because of the way our house is positioned, and on the weekends this is just not cool.
I searched high and low in store and online for the best curtains and settled . They’re the most expensive curtains per panel that we’ve ever purchased, but I actually don’t think they’re at all overpriced. They’re the softest velvet, extremely heavy, 96″ (though you could get them a different length),and have a quality sewn-in blackout liner. I purchased them in a neutral color so that we’ll be able to keep them hung regardless of how we further decorate our room, and I am so super happy with them. Jamie was also really pleased (he called them “money” to be exact haha) when he got home from work and saw them. Isn’t it crazy how the curtains elevate the room compared to the side that I hadn’t hung yet? to see all of the options you can get with these curtains, if you’re interested.
Have a great rest of your Thursday! See ya tomorrow, friends!
PS: I have a whole section of these “Slice of Life” posts if you ever want to go back and browse through past ones for whatever reason. 🙂
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
