Jamie and I have been antsy to attend a big Alabama football game for years, but making the stars align for this to happen when we lived halfway across the country + having two young children was difficult impossible. We were determined to get down to a game this season though since we’re finally living close to Tuscaloosa (2.5 hours away), and we finally made it happen this past weekend!
What a super fun 24 hours. We had such a blast!
Jamie had to work until around 4 on Friday, so as soon as he got home, we dropped the girls off with my parents and booked it spontaneously to Logan’s to grab a bite to eat. We were both famished from a hectic day, so we filled our bellies and then hit the road down to T-town.
My college roommate Mary Elizabeth and her husband Cole live in Tuscaloosa (he works for the university), so they graciously hooked us up with fabulous tickets and their guest room to crash in. We got to their house a little before 8 and met up with them and our other close friends, Brittany and David. We all stayed up until almost midnight hanging out (so so so good for the soul to have this chill time with them!), and then we crashed hard.
After a morning of relaxing, sipping a couple cups of coffee, and watching College Game Day, we got our acts together and headed to campus.
Our first stop: the strip to meet up with Jamie’s friend, Ryan!
We were really good friends with Ryan years ago when we were stationed at Fort Campbell, but we hadn’t seen him in 5ish years! He’s exercising his GRADSO option by getting his MBA at Alabama, so we were beyond pumped to see him! Such a good guy.
While Jamie and Ryan continued to tailgate together and meet up with a few other mutual friends, I met back up with Mary Elizabeth and Brittany to tour the brand spankin’ new AOII house!
I really have no words for how incredible it is. It’s a little bittersweet that the place we created so many memories in and lived in is gone, but I’m so happy for the current and future AOIIs to live in and experience a home like this. I can’t imagine how much they love it!
A couple of the current AOIIs who were walking around with us giving us a tour were gushing about how close they are, and we joked with them that we pledged the sorority 12 years ago, and we’re still close friends. I adore these people!
After grabbing some lunch on campus, it was game time! It rained cats and dogs for about an hour prior to kickoff, but we had nobody to impress and embraced the cooler temps!
The game itself was so much fun! Texas A&M definitely held their own the first half, which makes for a more enjoyable game to watch. Our seats were nearby their visitor’s section, so we got to watch their infamous yell leaders the whole game. So unique but honestly super neat, too! Their fans were a passionate bunch with some seemingly really neat traditions, so I enjoyed sitting by them.
Why I thought we should take a stadium picture while I looked like a wet dog is beyond me, but we did it and here it is. 😉
We had so much fun with you, Price fam! Thank you for your hospitality and friendship.
After the game, we grabbed some barbecue nachos from Big Bad Wolves (I’ve been dreaming of them for six years – lol) and then headed to our car to hit the road home. We would have loved to stay another night, but we had a busy Sunday on tap and needed to skedaddle home so that we could make the most of the next day.
We didn’t end up getting home until around 10 p.m., so I grabbed the girls from my parent’s house early the next day so that they could get to church and we could get to church. They’ve watched the girls from Friday night to Sunday morning twice in the last six weeks, and we are so grateful for the chance to finally have some kid-free fun from time to time. We do not take their willingness to watch the girls for granted!

I hope you had a good weekend as well and that your week has kicked off on the right foot! We are personally hoping that this week goes by quickly because we have a big flight to catch on FRIDAY!

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
