Hello, hello! It’s currently Thursday morning, and Sadie, Teddy, and I are all sitting about as close together as we can while we watching Hotel Transylvania 3 on this rainy day (and I type away on this post of course!) I love Thursday mornings SO much because it’s the one morning a week where Sadie and I have some quiet one-on-one time together without extracurricular activities or obligations of any kind.
I can always count on Thursday mornings to rest and do more lounging than I normally do, and I love being able to do that with my little girlfriend by my side. Our afternoon is shaping up to be a busy one with a couple of errands we need to run after preschool pickup, followed by dentist appointments for the girls, and a little neighborhood shindig this evening, so the quiet time this morning is welcomed!
Thriving Military Wife Series
Today I wanted to share something special specifically for readers who are military spouses or who know a military spouse that they’d like to share this with. Fellow creative Tayler Cathrine has worked tirelessly on creating a 21-part video series called “Thriving Military Wife”, which is just days away from launching (February 25th!!)
In this series, she interviews 21 military spouses via Skype and discusses topics that are all over the map. I was thrilled when I saw a note from her in my inbox requesting my participation in this series as well! Sign me up, because y’all know that I could talk until I’m blue in the face about our experience with the military. 😉
Starting February 25th, a new interview will be emailed out each day! You can sign up to receive this series in your inbox by clicking the link to the Thriving Military Wife series here.
By signing up, you’ll gain a variety of perspectives and strategies for navigating through military life challenges with confidence, support, and fun.
Here is just a sampling of what to expect throughout the next few weeks of interviews.
- Tips for investing and saving your money, so you don’t have to stress over finances as you run your family and/or your own business.
- Advice around all things parenting: how to set boundaries with technology, how to be present, and how to deal with kids at each age, so you can parent with calm and confidence, even when you’re “single married” during deployments.
- Expert strategies for getting through deployments and reintegration, so you and your spouse can handle the transitions with as much ease as possible.
- Mindset shifts around your identity, so you maintain your sense of self (and increase your self-love).
- Career opportunities for military spouses, so you can enjoy a sense of autonomy and self.
- And so much more.
Tayler, the series creator and host, has been a navy spouse for more than eight years, is a mother of four, and is a world traveler. She has been through so much—from moving while pregnant to deployments just after having a newborn to running a business.
She knows all military spouses are handling unique circumstances, and it’s her mission to help each and every one improve their lives and relationships.
This is why she’s created this series, Thriving Military Wife – for women who want to be better wives, parents, friends, and entrepreneurs.
I personally could see this being a great series to put on your phone or laptop each day while folding laundry, cooking dinner, etc. I’m all about soaking up wisdom, stories, and experiences from others because I think that’s a pivotal way we can grow. If you’re a military spouse, sign up for this pronto!
And if you’re not a military spouse but just want to laugh at me yakking about 29 months worth of overseas deployments in 6.5 years, I have lots of stories (and tips!) to share that I learned through a lot of trial and error (and tears lol). I can’t say that deployments ever got easier (they didn’t), but I always tried to be intentional about not pausing my life and playing victim because my spouse was overseas (this was easier said than done though because the pity parties were real sometimes!)
Ah, deployments are beastly, so I’m sending big hugs to those of you who may be in the trenches of one right now. You especially should sign up for this series because military spouses can never (!) have enough reminders that they are not alone.
Finally, big thanks to Tayler for inviting me to play along with this series! Proud of you and excited for you to launch this!
Let’s chat!
Did you sign up?! What topics are you looking forward to hearing about? What area(s) of military life leave you feeling the most overwhelmed, confused, sad, proud, excited, honored, etc.?

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
