This easy peasy two-ingredient fruit dip recipe takes just a couple minutes to whip together and is sure to be a hit at your next shower, barbecue, or even as a sweet treat you keep in the refrigerator all to yourself. Enjoy!
If you’re like me, you generally select what to bring to a potluck from a short, rotating list of options that you’ve made in the past that other party guests enjoyed.
This fruit dip is on my short list, and I totally think you should add it to yours too. 🙂
My best friend’s mother made this fruit dip for my wedding shower almost a decade ago and then wrote it out on a recipe card that she included with my gift (I loved this because hand-written recipe cards are so special these days). I’ve been making it for showers and potlucks ever since, and it’s always a crowd pleaser.
I could tell a fib and say that I like to make it because others enjoy it, but the real reason it’s usually my go-to is because it’s a dish that’s impossible to mess up. It’s really (!) fast to throw together too!
Besides cutting the fruit, this dish requires heavily whisking just two ingredients together: 13 ounces of marshmallow creme with an 8 ounce bar of cream cheese.
I then use a scraper tool to get every last bite out of the mixing bowl and into a serving dish. Next, I take a few minutes to dice up some fresh fruit (always putting just a teeny bit of lemon juice on the sliced apples to keep them from browning too quickly), cover the platter tightly with plastic wrap, and head off to the get-together!
I whipped this together quickly before heading to a friend’s river house over the weekend where eating blue crabs was the main event. I wasn’t sure what others were bringing, so I figured that something like light this would work well as an appetizer, side dish, or even dessert. The whole thing was gobbled up, which made transporting an empty platter home easy.
This fruit dip is versatile and could be drizzled with caramel sauce, mixed with chocolate chips, or even spread on a sugar cookie and topped with fruit for a pretty dessert. Enjoy!
PS: My favorite fruits to serve with this dip include sliced apples, strawberries, pineapple, grapes, melon, and blueberries. I generally stay away from kiwi, bananas, and raspberries since they don’t make the best “dippers”.
Fruit Dip Recipe
- 13 oz. of marshmallow creme (I used Jet-Puffed)
- 8 oz. cream cheese
- Combine both ingredients in mixing bowl and whisk on medium speed for 1-2 minutes until creamy.
Another popular potluck idea: We brought these carrot cake cupcakes to a large event on Easter, and our friends lost their minds! Also another guaranteed crowd-pleaser option.
Let’s chat!
What are some of your “go to” options when heading to a potluck event?
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
