I’ve shared before that we have a dinner party routine in our home when guests join us: I ask them to humor me and answer a few questions from our TableTopics cube.
I usually inconspicuously reach for it once everyone has finished eating (we keep it nearby on our sideboard) but before anyone starts getting up to move around and clean up. I usually hand the cube to a guest, ask them to pick three cards of their choosing, and then ask the questions. The eye rolls and smirks are sometimes pretty obvious before we get going (especially from the guys that are like “HERE WE GO!” lol) but if anyone ever didn’t enjoy this “game”, they hid it well.
9.5 times out of 10, our guests are asking to keep playing or say things like “Let’s do one more question!”
We’ve had this cube for four or five years and have absolutely loved it. It’s prompted some really great conversations with our family and friends. It prompts you to talk about some light-hearted things (“Who taught you to drive and what was that experience like?”) as well as some deeper prompts (“What is one trait you admire about your sibling?”)
If you’re having more meals around the table with your family, this might be a nice idea to implement this month as we continue to practice social distancing. You could even get on a Zoom call and play with some girlfriends.

How has mealtime changed at your home during social distancing?
P.S. How to play High Low Buffalo with your child
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
