She Has a Name!

We were much slower this time around than we were with Hadley when it comes to sticking to a baby name, but I’m so excited that this little girl finally has one.

SadieRose

We used the same criteria that we used with Hadley to pick her name. You may think I’m crazy for having such strict criteria, but everybody has things they want and do not want for their children’s names. 🙂 After being a teacher for several years, I started to learn some of the things that really annoyed some of my students about their names (they were especially vocal about this on the first day of school during roll call), so I tried to take that into consideration when picking our girls’ names.

  1. It had to be gender specific.
  2. It had to have one primary spelling.
  3. We wanted it to be a name that people looked at and pronounced correctly.
  4. I didn’t want it to be so unique that it was bizarre, but I wanted it to be a “newer” name.
  5. We didn’t want it to have any obvious nicknames. We want to call her what she’s named.

I found “Sadie” while scrolling through a list of baby names on Pinterest, and Jamie loved it immediately. If it were up to him, he would have agreed to that name within a day. I loved it from the beginning, but I needed a little bit more time to let it marinade in my mind. 🙂

A middle name for Sadie

Her middle name – Rose – actually doesn’t have a ton of significance besides the fact that it’s my absolute favorite name and has been for years. Jamie never liked it for a first name, and we didn’t give it to Hadley as a middle name because we’d already had her middle name (a family name) set in stone for years for our future hypothetical daughter. Ha! Jamie said that he would be fine with it for a middle name because he knew I loved it, so that was that!

Now that we’ve officially been calling her Sadie for about a month, we’ve received a couple of gifts with her name on it, which thrills me! Seeing her name makes everything feel much more real.

I got this awesome paperback book from a friend yesterday for my birthday, and I’m still so excited about it. Thank you Kels!

I also received this embroidered long-sleeve tee-shirt from a good friend for Christmas who is super talented with her embroidery machine and business, and I love it so much. Thanks Beth!

Sadie Rose, you have a lot of people who cannot wait to meet you!

Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
