The last few months…

Jamie and I have officially been playing “house” for almost three months now, and we are so loving life together. Sometimes I catch myself taking him being home for granted, and then I remember how long I’ve waited to live together. Life is good!

And busy. Hence my lack of blogging lately.

Here’s what we’ve been up to the last couple of months –

Jamie’s two best friends, Chris and Nelson (also two of his groomsmen), came up to visit him one weekend while I was out of town.

My childhood best friend got married to a wonderful man, and I loved standing by her side on her gorgeous wedding day!

Isn’t she gorgeous?

We finally gave the backyard some TLC – painted the deck, got a patio set and umbrella, planted a tree and rose bushes, and attempted (and failed) to reseed… and reseed… and reseed one stubborn area of the backyard. SOD – Here we come!

We hosted a couples’ baby shower for our good friends Jeremy and Noel Ring. Our friends Maureen and Bre also hosted, so it was fun planning everything with them. The shower went great!

Definitely feeling comfortable at our new church, Awaken. It’s AWESOME. We started a bible study that’s been so encouraging, but my new cheer schedule is going to cause us to take a little break until the fall.

My brother-in-law won first place at his regional Advertising Team competition in Nashville, and they are headed to Austin for Nationals. Go Bren!

One of my best friends Emily came to Clarksville and helped me with tryouts; She was such a Godsend! We had a very fun (and flat-out exhausting) three days together. I love her so much!

I went on my last Rachel’s Challenge trip at the end of March. Rip my heart out. I find myself pouting at least once of week about my time with RC having to be “dog-eared” for now. So tough giving up a “dream” job, but even harder thinking about my co-workers/friends being “ripped” from my life. In the words of Sarah Branion, they are the finest of souls on the planet.

My in-laws came to visit, and we had one of our best visits ever!

My mother-in-law and I fixed up my previously SO BORING front porch. She has an incredible eye for decorating, yard work, etc. – You should just SEE her house in Austin. It’s like a model home for decorators, so I obviously love when she comes to town and helps me out.

My front door still needs to be repainted – ah.

Been cooking like a crazy person!! It’s become quite a hobby of mine to plan my meals a month ahead of time, and then spend some time in the kitchen preparing everything. Jamie makes cooking much more enjoyable because he will literally eat any meal I make and immediately claim that it’s delicious; He’s such a liar champ! 😉

Trained for my first half-marathon! My official chip time was 2 hours and 16 minutes, and I was VERY happy with that. My overall goal was just to run the whole thing and cross that finish line. Very good feeling. I deserved every bite of my Ben and Jerry’s “Americone Dream” ice cream that night.

Took a beach trip to Bethy’s family’s beach house with Bethy and Bradley over Easter weekend.

Had a date night down in Nashville with dinner at Margaritaville and a comedy show featuring Gabriel Iglesias. BELLY LAUGHS ALL NIGHT.

Took a Monday night ballroom and swing dance lesson down in the Belle Meade area of Nash. Ah, we both LOVED it.

Been subbing a lot, and have been enjoying it a lot more since I’ve had a long-term job with a special ed class at the school I’ll be teaching at next year. I’ve never worked with special ed students before, but I REALLY love these kids!

Jamie planned his first big Army event – his troop’s “Hail and Farewell”. He did a GREAT job!! He (I guess WE) were “farewelled” as Jamie leaves HHT in June and heads to work for Brigade.

We celebrated my dad’s 50th birthday! Did you catch my note to him?

My brother-in-law Brendon graduated from The University of Alabama on May 5th! We are SO proud of you, Bren!! ROLL TIDE!

Hosted more meetings, made more copies, talked to more parents, given more pep talks, done more round offs, and hit more High Vs than I care to count! West Creek High School Cheerleading 2012-2013 is in FULL SWING, and my squads are DANG GOOD (I can say that humbly because it’s NO credit to me – duh). Hoping we can take the squad to Nationals in Orlando in February for the first time!

T-minus 24 days until we are on a plane to Costa Rica! Holy smokes, I CANNOT WAIT~!

Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
