Classic Games to Play with Family & Friends

Playing games with family and friends is such a healthy, clean way to enjoy your time with loved ones after dinner or during the holidays. From classic games like Mexican Train, Monopoly, to Yahtzee, this list of games will give you a creative boost about what game to play with loved ones next!

Do any of you pass the time during the holidays by playing games with your friends and family? For years we’ve enjoyed a big meal, ate dessert, and then nestled in for the night to play a round (or two or three) of whatever game someone inevitably brought along.

Sometimes we play for 30 minutes and other times for three hours. Sometimes only three people are up for playing and other times 10 or more people are involved. Some evoke tremendous laughter (my personal favorite) while others bring out players’ more competitive sides. Regardless of the type of game, I love how playing games brings people together with good, clean fun. The cherry on top is that you’re usually making some pretty great, lasting memories.

Here are a few game suggestions, if you’re interested. I’d love to hear what your favorite family games are!

My grandmother always suggests a few rounds of , a super easy dice game that you can play with coins or tokens. She always supplies everyone with the quarters. 🙂

I have great memories playing  when I was in middle school and high school.

We played during Thanksgiving, which is a great option if you’d like to involve children (preferably ages 3+).

has stood the test of time. There are so many fun versions of it these days; a list of them can be found here!

Ellen Degeneres fans surely know all about Heads Up. We played this at the beach during a family vacation last year and laughed our heads off. We used the app version.

I haven’t personally played , but apparently this is the hot new game for families. Like Heads Up, I think it’s supposed to evoke some pretty hard laughing.

is my true blue and has been one of my favorite games for two decades. So easy and fun to play mindlessly with a small group.

Not into playing games? Maybe a puzzle is more your speed ( looks fun.)

PS: More fun games to play during the holidays

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
