One year ago.

Tomorrow will mark ONE YEAR since my wonderful husband Jamie and about-to-be brother-in-law Josh Alexander became Second Lieutenants in the Army. The trip up to New York brings back so many memories that I will treasure for the rest of my life.     My parents, two siblings, and I all drove up to New York together to use our… Keep Reading

One month down… 10 % complete…

We reached our first milestone yesterday – one month down. We are 10% done with this deployment, and for the most part it’s gone by pretty quick. I’d say I’ve been just a tad bit busy, which has helped like I knew it would. I’ll be honest – I really thought I would fall to pieces and have swollen eyes… Keep Reading

Gratitude Journal

The day after Thanksgiving (I think) I did a post about gratitude journals. I just graded over 200 spelling and vocabulary tests this morning, so I’m going to take a little breather and do another gratitude post. Top things I’m grateful for from the last 24 hours: 1. My family (all three kids, both parents, and my crazy grandma) all… Keep Reading

Me? A public speaker?

Most of you know that I did not renew my contract for another year of teaching at St. John’s because I want to go ahead and make Clarksville my permanent home. I cried my little eyes out when I broke the news to the administration (I’m so professional…) and my fellow middle school teachers, but I really had a weirdly… Keep Reading

‘ol Teddy

My Thursday night was supposed to include dropping off clothes at the cleaners, going on a four-mile run, and showering off just in time to watch American Idol and eat dinner.             But this little man of mine needed some major TLC. Fairly large hernia removal surgery knocked this guy OUT (our bank account also took quite the hit! Sheesh…. Keep Reading

14 trades

Have you heard about this guy? My brother posted this link on facebook a couple days ago, and I decided to share it/discuss it with my students this morning as a little “brain warm up”, or so that was my excuse to share something kind of different! From Wikipedia: MacDonald made his first trade, a red paper clip for a… Keep Reading

Meet Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you!

I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos.

I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 5, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!)

I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
