If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.

I was thinking the other day about how every plan and every dream I ever had for myself has not or is not working out. And I am completely okay with that. I can vividly remember telling my “life plan” to my junior year English teacher with FULL confidence that it was going to work out. She smiled and simply… Keep Reading

blunt poetry

Today was my students’ deadline to turn in a poem as extra credit for a national poetry contest. The following is written by one of my quiet seventh graders. My friends are the popular crowd My friends are the friends you hang out with just to look cool My friends pick on people Including me. My friends never include me I really… Keep Reading

ramblings on getting hitched… and what a brilliant God we serve

This post will probably receive the imaginary prize of the most random blog post ever, but what’s the point of having a blog if a writer can’t use it as an “outlet” for all the random thoughts in his or her head? I love this blog. 🙂 All Halloween-weekend long my facebook friends were posting pictures of their creative costumes,… Keep Reading

I AM SO OVER AIRPORTS!

I am going to use my blog to vent about how much I hate all things related to AIRPORTS! A flight that I am going to buy for a wedding in December has gone up $50 in 46 HOURS!!! It’s not like we’re going anywhere that everybody else wants to go; we’re going to Medford, OREGON! What is in Oregon… Keep Reading

Rocky Top, You’ll Never Be Home Sweet Home to Me

October has been such an amazing month, and this past weekend put the icing on the cake. I had been anticipating Friday for a while because my SGA officers and I have been putting together the annual Halloween dance. Let me just say that it is very difficult to plan something big without ever having seen it before! I definitely have the… Keep Reading

My best friend…

…just surprised me at work with beautiful roses and a new teddy bear. The secretary delivered them in the middle of class, and in typical 8th grade fashion my students became UNGLUED. The “awwww”s went on for a solid five minutes. This offered me the perfect time to teach my little guys about how to treat a lady (or their mom… Keep Reading

10 Days Away From Reality

Anyone who knows me well knows that I happily spend more money on traveling than I do ANYTHING else. With the help of summer jobs and relaxed parents, I was fortunate to travel quite a bit in college with Jamie and with my friends. Now that I actually make my own moolah, traveling has gotten a little bit easier and a… Keep Reading

Things that Make Me Smile

I love when I catch myself smiling when I’m all by myself. Nerdy, I know, but to me, that’s a sign of genuine happiness. I caught myself grinning from ear to ear while reading some student essays today, and for a minute the whole world was zoned out. It was just me alone in my classroom, completely consumed in the… Keep Reading

Meet Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you!

I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos.

I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 5, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!)

I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
