back to middle school!

It’s 6:20 a.m., and I’m completely dressed and ready for my first day of work. I don’t have to be there until 7:30. I knew I’d be like this. That’s why I’m blogging at this odd hour of the day. Allow me to freak out… I CAN’T BELIEVE I’M A TEACHER!!!!!!!! Wish me luck. 🙂 GOOD LUCK to all of… Keep Reading

You take the good, you take the bad

WELCOME AUGUST! I have been anticipating this month for a very long time! On the 7th, I will officially graduate from Alabama with degrees in Secondary Education and English. Switching my major twice and killing myself trying to catch up now results in 156 completed hours and my first paycheck this Friday. It was all worth it! I apologize in… Keep Reading

Wedding Date

We’ve set the date! On Saturday, June 2, 2012, I will happily become Mrs. Jamie DeSpain. HOORAY! I never thought I’d be one to have a 23 month engagement, but waiting is really our only option. Reasons for a LONG engagement:-Jamie’s dad is deploying this August for a 12-month tour. Obviously his dad has to be at our wedding. -My… Keep Reading

ENGAGEMENT!! whaaaaat?!?! :)

Yep. I said it. Jamie and I are engaged to be MARRIED! I can’t believe it. I mean, I can believe it (primarily because I’ve known for 2.5 years that I wanted to marry him!), but I can’t believe that there’s a ring on my finger and that he’s calling me his fiance! Coolest feeling ever. I’ve been asked a bunch to… Keep Reading

WHAT. A. DAY.

There is nothing like being a teacher. It is Wednesday afternoon of graduation exam week, and the final bell rings in 20 minutes. I should be working on next week’s lesson plans, but my mind is currently trying to wrap itself around what I’ve just witnessed the last hour. In a nutshell, my cooperating teacher pulled one of her former… Keep Reading

Teaching Internship Update

I’m back to blogging. At least for the day. The idea hit me the other day that I should be writing a book about my teaching internship. Just go home and spill about my day. Every day (and I do mean EVERY day) I leave school with several stories that I’m just bursting to tell somebody. I know my poor… Keep Reading

The Shack by William Young

Has anyone read William Young’s The Shack? I’d put off reading it for almost a year because of the endless required reading I do as an English major, but I picked up my mom’s copy a few days ago and have had my nose in it every free chance I’ve had. I’m nearly half-way through, and I’m 100% hooked. I… Keep Reading

Summertime

I slept in until 9, watched Regis and Kelly (my fave), went for a leisurely long run, and just got back from three hours at the pool with Ashley and Amberlee. YEP! Must be SUMMERTIME. 🙂 I’ve been home in Madison since Friday afternoon, and today has been the first time I’ve been able to catch my breath since finishing… Keep Reading

Meet Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you!

I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos.

I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 5, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!)

I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
