Are We Terrible Parents If We Don’t Take the Kids to the Pumpkin Patch?

Jamie and I often joke that we are perfect for each other because neither of us knows how to properly relax. We are planners by nature and enjoy scheduling everything down to the minute so that we can maximize our days and juggle a bunch of things. Our personalities simply jive this way. The problem with this lies in that… Keep Reading

Thank you Maxi-Cosi for sponsoring this post. Keep your little adventurers comfy, safe & stylish with the Maxi-Cosi Magellan™ Max 5-in-1 Convertible Car Seat! Both of our girls learned quickly after birth that going on frequent road trips here, there, and everywhere is simply a natural part of being a… Keep Reading

Our First Airbnb Experience and Why It Was Exceptional

In this post about our first Airbnb experience, I break down a half dozen reasons why using Airbnb for our Switzerland trip could not have been a better choice. I’m sharing how much we spent per night, how our chalet aided our travels with children, and more. Also, there’s a code at the bottom of the post for $40 off… Keep Reading

A Mostly Undocumented Fall Break

Though you wouldn’t know it from my iPhone’s camera roll, the girls were out of school all last week for Fall Break. I barely took pictures or created any Instagram Stories of anything we did, so I guess you could say that I was on a bit of a unintentional social media break. 😉 I can usually enjoy my surroundings… Keep Reading

All Things Fires: Experiencing Two Firsthand, Making an Escape Plan, and More

Thank you First Alert for sponsoring this post. October is Fire Prevention Month – practice safety in numbers to ensure your family’s super prepared too! Our Family’s Home Fire I was just shy of turning five (Hadley’s age exactly actually) when my family’s home caught fire. It’s one of my earliest memories, and it always shocks my parents that I… Keep Reading

One Month Results After Working with Coach Mark + Daunting Europe Maintenance

A few weeks ago I shared some mega vulnerable, personal pictures to help illustrate a few things I wanted to share about my first experience working with an online health coach. Working with Coach Mark was a very (very!) spontaneous decision, but at the halfway mark of my first month, I was feeling confident enough in the program to share… Keep Reading

An Honest Stitch Fix for Men Review Four “Fixes” Later

Choo Choo; All DeSpains aboard the Stitch Fix train! Though I love (!) Stitch Fix for my own clothing wants/needs (I’ve received over 30 boxes) and really like the kids’ Stitch Fix boxes as well (Hadley received her second box a couple weeks ago and OMG cuteness), it’s the Stitch Fix for Men service that I personally think is the most… Keep Reading

My 10 Favorite Moments from Breathtaking Switzerland

I am almost always the type of person who loves to go away and equally loves to come home, but leaving Switzerland was initially kind of crushing. (Holy dramatics, Erica… typing that sounds so silly. Sheesh!) It was though! Life felt so peaceful and slow and obligation-free, and while I was so grateful to experience Switzerland at all, I couldn’t… Keep Reading

Meet Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you!

I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos.

I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 5, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!)

I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
