To Parents & In-Laws of Service Members: Your Sacrifices are Not Overlooked

As Jamie gets ready to come home from overseas and we begin the final steps of transitioning out of the military, I can feel the weight of his absence releasing from my shoulders. We’re almost to the finish line. The months that he’s gone are obviously more difficult for us, but that’s not a secret to anyone. When strangers find… Keep Reading

10 Subscription Gifts to Give This Year

This article contains 10 subscription gifts ideas. Of all the gift guides I put out this holiday season, I think today’s might be my most favorite! Subscription services have gone absolutely bananas the last five years or so, and for good reason! I’ve given and received numerous subscription services the last few years, and there’s six reasons I think they’re… Keep Reading

Food for Thought: Hunger Doesn’t Take a Holiday

Ever since visiting Harvesters back in June, you could say that my “senses have been heightened” to noticing the food drives all around me throughout the year. This time of year they are wonderfully rampant, and food banks thrive on the charitable hearts of others during the holiday season to get their shelves stocked and help, help, help in any… Keep Reading

Slice of Life: December 4th, 2017

Hellooooo and Happy Monday! Hope your week is off to a great start. 🙂 I have a fairly short (and sweet) slice of life that I’d love to share with you today, if you’re interested. 🙂 As usual, I grabbed a handful of pictures from life lately to give you a small glimpse into a few things we’ve been up… Keep Reading

The Saturday Sit-Down #46: Keating Bartlett

There are just three “Saturday Sit-Down” features this month before we wrap up 2017 and tie a bow on this series’s first full year. The first of those three features is a blogger named Keating who I’ve been following for at least two years now, but we might actually be getting closer to three! I’ve continually come back to check… Keep Reading

Five things to do with your kids' schoolwork and artwork - hang it, decorate with it, file it, send it, ditch it.

5 Things I Do With My Kids’ Schoolwork and Artwork

Here are 5 things I do with my kids’ schoolwork and artwork When you’re cleaning out your kids’ backpacks and inevitably find a mound of artwork and papers, what do you do with all of it? A friend and I were chatting about this recently, and I realized that I’d subconsciously created a pretty good little system for our family… Keep Reading

Musings & Pictures from Thanksgiving Week

Jamie and I try to stick to a pretty good schedule of flip flopping the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with our families, and this year we were really looking forward to a DeSpain Thanksgiving. Plus, we’d actually never spent Thanksgiving in our own home since getting married in 2011, so we were pumped to finally do the hosting for this… Keep Reading

Will You Be My Community? + A Note of Empathy for Families at New Duty Stations

Without having to give it a second thought, my absolute favorite aspect our military lifestyle is the community of family we’ve made throughout the last few years. I truly can’t imagine my life without some of the people we’ve met and I’ve often wondered how we ever did life without them. On the other hand, one of my least favorite… Keep Reading

Meet Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you!

I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos.

I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 5, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!)

I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
