Painting Our Home Exterior: The Before and After Transformation - I painted all of the windows, door frames, gutters, and drain spouts that were low enough that I could hit while standing on a six-foot step ladder. We also painted the shutter, exterior doors, fence, and so much more. Painting the Exterior of our Home – Before & After

As if I wasn’t obsessed with paint enough, this not-as-massive-as-you-would-think undertaking completely put me over the edge! We’re going to hit our two-year anniversary in this home this week (how can it be already?!), and our exterior was way overdue for a little bit of love. We’ve worked diligently on freshening up the interior since day one, so it was… Keep Reading

Motherhood Advice That’s Helping Me Keep My Cool

A few months ago I was venting to my mom about another food struggle that I was having with Hadley. She was obsessed with bringing a dozen or more of her favorite little figurines to her table, and she was then way more interested in playing with her toys than eating whatever I had just prepared for her. She’s already… Keep Reading

Breakfast Casserole: Go-To Recipe For Hosting Brunch

This breakfast casserole recipe was a hit with our family! We hope your family enjoys it as much a we did!  We had the nicest surprise this week! Over the weekend Jamie’s former college professor/running buddy/Army mentor texted him that he and his wife (also a Lt. Col.) were going to be passing through our area and wanted to meet us… Keep Reading

Slice of Life – August 24th, 2016

I cannot believe I just wrote August 24th in the title. How in the world is it already nearly September?! I swear this summer was the fastest of my life. Anyway! 🙂 I hope you’re having a nice week so far.  The last week and a half has been slammed with daily activities (good activities!), but I’d be lying if I… Keep Reading

9 Tips for Readjusting as a Family After a Deployment

When I married Jamie in January 2011, I knew that a deployment to Afghanistan was looming. I knew that the first year of our marriage would be untraditional and that there would be hard times, but I had no idea what our lives in the military would hold once he returned in 2012. In hindsight I don’t believe there would have been… Keep Reading

Communication Skills & Addressing Others by Name

Last week we were watching one of the “feel good” backstories behind one of the Olympic teams, and the coach made a comment that stopped Jamie in his tracks. He mentioned that the leadership skill he works the hardest on is always making a conscious effort to address his players and coaches by name. Jamie is about to take command… Keep Reading

The Lowdown on My Instagram Closet Sale

I have no idea what possessed me to do this, but last weekend I successfully hosted my first (and last!) Instagram closet clean-out sale. I woke up Friday with zero intentions of cleaning out my closet, but by noon on Saturday I was blowing up Instagram by listing over 40 of my best gently-used garments for sale. It. Was. Wild…. Two of My Favorite Parenting Organizations: Parents as Teachers & MOPS

I always perk up when someone shares with me a new resource that Hadley and/or I will enjoy or learn from, so I’m always happy to blab about two of my favorite outings/resources for moms that are available to me in our town and may be available to you in yours as well! Parents As Teachers We are so thankful… Keep Reading

Meet Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you!

I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos.

I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 5, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!)

I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
