Slice of Life (+ a Giveaway!) – August 16th, 2016

Popping in today with another slice of life. 🙂 I feel like a broken record, but things around here have continued to be quiet in a good way. I’m starting to get a little antsy and excited for fall, but I know that right behind fall is a brutally cold Kansas winter, so I’m not wishing away these summer temps just… Keep Reading

Midnight Pasta Recipe: An Easy and Healthy Meal for Busy Nights

This Midnight Pasta recipe is quick, easy, versatile, healthy, and filling: all things that make a perfect meal! Scroll to the bottom for the complete recipe. A couple years ago when I set a goal to get back to my pre pregnancy weight, I followed a strict diet of complex carbs, veggies, fruit, healthy fats, and protein. This formula, combined with… Keep Reading

Real Parenting Moments Vol V

When I wrote my last “Real Parenting Moments” post, being a mom felt heavy. It was about three weeks after Jamie had returned home from overseas, and we were failing over and over again at correcting a specific negative attention-seeking behavior from Hadley. Thankfully that storm blew over entirely after a couple weeks that were nothing short of maddening, and I’m… Keep Reading

Our Thoughts on Our Home Warranty with American Home Shield

Do you have a home warranty? We signed up for ours almost two years ago and we’re relieved we did. When we were assigned to PCS (move) to Fort Riley a couple years ago, we knew that we desired to live on the west side of Manhattan. We quickly learned that the housing market is unfortunately quite expensive in this particular area, and… Keep Reading

Destin Beach Trip Days 3-5

When we booked our Florida trip a few months ago, I wondered if three full days would be enough time or if it would feel too short. On our way home to Kansas on Friday, Jamie and I both agreed that five days (including two travel days) was the perfect sized bite to chew off for our first big trip… Keep Reading

Destin Beach Trip – Days 1 & 2

After a super chill summer hunkering down here in Kansas, we finally busted out of here last Monday and caught flights to Destin, Florida! Jamie and I planned this trip months ago and were excited to knock out so many birds with one stone: we would get to meet our two-month-old niece (and Hadley and Sadie’s very first cousin!) Carly,… Keep Reading

An Honest Blue Apron Review After Five Weeks of Use

About a week before Jamie returned home from his recent deployment I sat down to do some meal planning, but I felt very uninspired and uninterested in selecting meals and making a coordinating grocery list. This is something I used to really enjoy doing before he left, but I did zero of it while he was gone and was struggling… Keep Reading

A Family Saturday at Ashwood Farm

Our biggest girl is right where she belongs spending her toddler years in Kansas because she truly cannot get enough of all things related to farm animals. It’s hard to drive anywhere without spotting a cow or a horse in a random field, so even the smallest trips across town are often thrilling to her. A few weeks ago I noticed… Keep Reading

Meet Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you!

I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos.

I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 5, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!)

I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
