Year in Review 23 Comments

2 0 1 6

Years from now, my guess is that I’ll likely recall four main events that defined our 2016: the year our second daughter was born, the year that brought Jamie home from another deployment, the year I became an aunt and my sister a mother, and the year that flipped my entire life upside down when we came devastatingly close to losing Hadley…. A review of budgeting tool mint.com: Back in September we finally set up this budgeting tool, a free online app that links to our checking account, credit card account, and investment accounts. Then we set up our budgeting categories and how much money to allot to each category. Next I went...

A Budgeting Tool to Use in the New Year: A Review of Mint.com

On a list of things that I typically steer clear of blogging about, finances is hiiiiigh up there! On a list of things that I typically love blogging about, my favorite things are super high. So I guess these two lists are colliding today because we’re talking a budgeting tool that we’re totally into and I thought you might be into as well…. Keep Reading

Slice of Life – December 20th, 2016

Unless we’re on vacation, I very rarely ever say that I don’t want a day to end. But I didn’t want Saturday to end. It was the sweetest day. Let me back up. On Friday I had plans to throw a Christmas party with about 15 of my girlfriends here in Kansas. I was pumped, and so were they! Nearly… Keep Reading

These Rodan and Fields before and after pictures were taken with zero make-up, in the same spot in my house, with the same lighting! I'm truly amazing and impressed by these results after using R + F's Reverse regimen.

Rodan and Fields Before and After

If I would have seen a blog post with a title like this a few months ago, I would have clicked it so fast; I’ve been curious about the Rodan and Fields before and after hype for months! Though I’d heard about this company almost three years ago, it didn’t start really piquing my interest until one of my close… Keep Reading

Classic Games to Play with Family & Friends

Do any of you pass the time during the holidays by playing games with your friends and family? For years we’ve enjoyed a big meal, ate dessert, and then nestled in for the night to play a round (or two or three) of whatever game someone inevitably brought along. Sometimes we play for 30 minutes and other times for three… Keep Reading

Slice of Life – December 13th, 2016

Oh hey December… you know how to bring the party! We’ve had a really fun month so far, and it’s a little hard to believe that we’re not even halfway through it. The next couple of weeks hold a bunch of fun events, but I know come New Years Day we four DeSpains will be soaking up a lot of down time… Keep Reading

Last Minute Gift Ideas Under $20 For Men, Women, and Kids

With just 11 days left until Christmas Eve, today is likely one of the last days to place an online order that will (hopefully) arrive just in time to give a loved one for Christmas. Because I love any reason to play around on Nordstrom’s website, I rounded up a bunch of great gifts ideas that are all currently under… Keep Reading

Favorite Christmas Recipes

Helloooo Monday! Whew – we need a weekend to recover from our weekend. It was so great, but I think the girls and me will be hanging low today and catching up on a little rest. I’ll be sharing a few pictures in a “Slice of Life” post tomorrow, but until then I wanted to pop in real quick with… Keep Reading

Meet Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you!

I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos.

I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 5, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!)

I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
